laugh all you want but being ignorant and being "legal" are two completely different things.

You sir are one of the two and it isn't the latter.
Not trying to be an ******* here but the bottom line is you're worried about a header that YOU CAN'T SEE from under the hood and your claim that your car is completely legal is complete B.S.
The LEO's might not have recognized your violations but it does not change the fact that your clear corners, tint, and headlights are all against the California Vehicle Code. (aka; illegal)

how are you going to get caught? "around here" = SoCal. I'm in Pasadena at least once a week and I've never had any problems.
Do me a favor: grab a few of your friends (who aren't super familiar with RX-8's) and pop your hood. Have them point at your headers.

Let me know how that goes...

My point is they'll point at the wrong thing because the headers are not easily visible. It's not like they say "RACE HEADERS" in big bright lettering.
You got an intake? (if so, what brand?)

what year is your car? The reason I ask is because I just pulled this off AEM's website:

RX-8 2005-2009 1.3L R2 - - Naturally Aspirated
Install Time - 4 hrs.
Emissions Compliance - No, Pending Legality

If yours is a 2004 then you're good, if not then the intake would be of bigger concern then RB's headers. A cop will spot that intake WAY before he spots your headers.

Alright, lets get this thing back on track now that we've covered the emissions questions in CA.
Anyone have pics of this bad boy installed or dynos?

Actually as far as front clear corners, the CA vehicle code only calls for amber reflector front side lights on vehicles that are 6.6 feet (80 inches) wide or wider.

As long as you can see the amber light, from 500 feet and 50 feet at night that is all the side marker you need.

See CA vehicle codes 25100:

Back on topic here...

Any measurements or dynos with this? How about back pressure measurement or engine and exhaust flow measurements? Good friend of mine had taken his time to educate me on these things and I was wondering if anyone has any of these?

Would be really helpful for the community. If anyone notices..Racing Beat doesn't have this info.

RB header installed

Cons:

-Not a 15 minute install like on a 1st gen or a miata.

-It's not visible enough to show it off.

Pros:

-Absolutely beautiful design and craftsmanship, there are details that are very well thought out.

-Lighter than the stock manifold, sorry, didn't weigh it.

-Haven't driven it much or heard it at WOT from the outside but I think it might be quieter than the stock manifold. I also have the RB race pipe installed.

-Included hardware and instructions are well done. Follow the instructions the first time. Don't be stupid like me and think that you can take shortcuts. Their instructions work! (Hey, I'm a guy, I don't ask for directions either)

-Fitment on the car is like any other RB product, like OEM.

-Value. Having fabricated headers in the past I was more than happy to pay the price for this one.
-----------------------------------

No, I don't have a dyno or flow testing. RB usually gives conservative numbers and I'm sure that certain mods will allow more or less gain.

About two months. It took me a while to find a transmission (I slightly missed a hard shift at 9300rpms), slow shipping, etc.

It takes me a relatively long time to put the car up on stands and take the RF wheel off. It takes a bit of trial and error figuring out what length of sockets and extensions to use but it is straightforward. A couple of tight spots but you get some from underneath and others from inside the wheel well.

So, about 1-2 hours? I say it's more difficult because on 1st gen RX-7's and miatas you can be ham fisted and use impact tools. On the 8 there are a few more nuts and bolts and you can't use power tools on many of them.

Second time around I'd say under an hour and three beers.

RB Intake
RB duct
RB Headers
RB Dual Resonated midpipe (coming Spring '09)
RB Exhaust

That is gonna be full of WIN!!!
I figure I'll do the headers / midpipe at the same time, this is gonna be one sweeeet sounding car

I might have to take some video/sound clip. The header + race pipe is definitely quieter than the stock manifold + race pipe. The header + resonated pipe will be reasonably quiet. Either way, the sound quality is EXCELLENT.

Add coils and tuning to your setup and it will scream.

208WHP on a Mustang Dyno is Incredible. What was your baseline before tuning?

Sorry, no baseline. People get all upset when I suggest a correction factor to the Mustang dyno, but it seems that you get it! Steve Kan at www.KanTuning.com is the best, I just bolted on a bunch of RB parts.

I don't think that's an unreasonable number.

I hit 192 on a Mustang dyno with only an exhaust + UD pulley + AEM CAI. And this is 30 seconds after installing the CAI so the ECU didn't have the CAI fuel trims yet. Adding flywheel + headers + racepipe + tune I'd expect to hit more than 208.

Not sure if you have an exhaust or not, but if you don't I would def. recommend one at this point!

These results are great but require running a race pipe. I have tried it and cant get past the noise and stink of it. I wonder what could be achineved with a cat in place like the RP Supercat.

I am making 198/144 on the dynojet.

oh yeah - you will love it for sure - maybe I should bring my camcorder to my dyno tune with MM next month... I have this very setup using Scott's dual resonated midpipe and ignition, plus I'm underdriven by Unorthodox.

Your playing with fire driving that on the street.
