Runs considerably cooler if there is not a cat.

Anyone remember earlier how I asked how this compares to Knight Sports header? Well now that I have the catalog with pictures... Now we can compare. To be honest, the RB header looks great and sounds great, and I have no doubt in my mind that RB knows their ****.... But when you look at the Knight Sports header design...It's a whole different ballpark. They went as far as splitting the middle runner into two.

http://rezelse.blogspot.com/2009/03/...alog-2009.html

Link to my blog post with the catalog on there. At the bottom of the post, you can click the link to download the catalog. If you notice, it says that having a single runner or in this case, the stock runner, causes back pressure and all because two exhaust ports combine together, yet with the knight sports, it's two seperate runners... Let me know what you guys think. Granted $1200 is steep, but I mean if it's that great of a product and you plan to go all out with NA.. I'd see it as worth it. That's just me though.

Racing Beat did try splitting the runner like that. I've got the pictures to prove it. However they didn't find any significant difference in power between the 3 and 4 runner setups. They kept the 3 as a result since it was easier and cheaper to build.

I originally thought splitting it up would improve it and it seems to make sense when you read it. Reality apparently didn't agree.

Just out of curiosity... How can the middle runner be split when they join before they even exit the iron?

Rotarygod, when you say "didn't see any significant power increases"...So there were some, but barely enough to justify production is what you're saying, correct?

RB was seeing 3-4 hp gains with the 3 runner header and 4-5 hp gains with the 4 runner header. Does a difference that small really matter? Nope. None of this accounts for margin of error either.

From what I remember they tried all different kinds of lengths on the dyno and nothing seemed to show any improvement over the other. I know they didn't try every combination that would fit in the car as they were concerned with keeping a cat on it. I still want to see what would happen with a true dual setup all the way back.

So...RG knows himself then, is what you're saying right? :P

But I see what you mean. Me personally? I'm a fanatic (if you couldn't tell...)..and the sickness is telling me to just get the goddamn best of the best. I think in this case, I'd spend the extra money and get the Knight Sports header. Especially if I'm staying NA, I may as well squeeze every bit of power that I can, you know? Thanks for the heads up though RG. Good to know the difference.

RG said 1-2 And Knight Sports claims more torque. I'm sure it holds true..Sounds great, and good stuff. And yes I'm willing to spend that.. Why not? You make it sound like it's a bad thing to spend money on something you love and want the best for it.. :D Hope you don't question spending that kind of money on a woman you love.

Plus, same holds true for competitive people and/or race teams. Do you think they cut corners in this sort of thing? I doubt it. :D

hahahah you have to go with us on a "tour"(more like RAID) of Racing Beat when we are there for 7stock. We had this new kid nearly blowing his stack because we kept going in to places and digging in closets and back corners of the dyno room and dragging things out he runs off to tell someone and gets told "oh yeah its just those gus let them be"

then we quiz them about all the stuff we find- like superchargers and intake manifolds that use to be on certain white rx-8s and turbo exhaust manifolds that were on others and 4 or 5 different header designs etc

hey whats that 4 rotor for in the corner that had the tarp over it?

Does header performance gain you quoted change if you are catless?

OK - seems I need to chime in here.

I have the RB header, and until a few days ago, I was running the Mazsport dual RB Power Pulse pre-silencer midpipe, coupled to the RB REV8 catback.

Results for NA: The BEST EVAH exhaust note for the Renesis v1.0

I am now going back stock, for obvious reasons, and the RB header coupled to the RP SuperCat, coupled to the RB REV8 is not what I want. The sound is like an early ported gen1 - not bad, but distinctly rotary in the exhaust note. I miss the exotic note I had previous.

So, for all those on the fence, get a Mazsport dual if you can find one. Mine is sold pending buyer approval. The RB header is a must for NA if you have the funds.
