So how will you know that RB did flash your PCM? Will you feel a difference?

I'd suggest you use a SCANalyzer or a Gtech to take a baseline reading before you send in your PCM and then take another reading or Gtech pull to see what the difference is after.

You will feel the difference and notice how smooth it is throughout the RPMs.

Ok guys here comes the "noob" question of sorts....

In my 05 I found out the hard way that if the ECU looses power either by disconnecting the battery or battery diying the car will not start. According to mazda the security on the keys or something is lost when that happens as a security measure or something. I want to get this flash but if I cant start my car after getting the ECU back what good is it? Anyone with an 05 (with the flipout key) or later familiar with this? How do I get around this or get my keys reprogrammed without having mazda roadside assistance tow my car to the dealer to have them "fix" this issue?

Landon, that's strange, I've disconnected my battery many a times (e.g. car audio install) and the car starts back up just fine. I have an '05 with a flipout key. Sounds like your original problem was something else.

Only thing I did before was the CAI install where it says disconnect the battery for safety reasons...

hmmmm... Your dealer never told you to never let the battery go dead or something otherwise you would have this issue? Then again my dealer is russel mazda which doesnt have the highest ratings in the way of customer service...

Nope, the dealer never told me that. I've disconnected the battery many times. The only thing is that after you reconnect it, you have to follow the manual's procedure for resetting power steering by turning the wheel all the way to the left and then all the way to the right. Then restart the car and the DSC light will go away.

so what exactly do they do to make the car run smoother? my car is running like ****... im really looking for it to run how it use to like 2-3 flashes ago... i use to get 17.5 mpg conistantly driving it fairly hard.. now if i baby it i get maybe 16 and if i drive it semi hard 15mpg... but the biggest problem is it hesitates going up to 3500rpm then all of a sudden like jolts for 500rpm then dies back down and slowly goes up.... would this flash help? any comments from the 04 owners with this?

I have no first-hand experience, I doubt that the flash will 'cure' any problems like that. You're best off seeing the dealer about the problems you're having.

Yeah I think I will just have rosenthal mazda check it out for me since I have them do all of the work on it now since my dealer aparently just dont know anything of whats going on with the car. Its kinda depressing but oh well... Once Rosenthal checks it out I think I will go ahead and send the ECU off for that RB Flash

Yeah I think there is something wrong with your car. Maybe the plugs or wires need to be replaced. If there's something wrong the flash won't help. You need to get your car fixed.

Oh I know a flash will not do anything. He was refering to a post I made (that I accidentally deleted) refering to another post in here where a guy disconnected his battery and reconnected it and the car didnt start.

Astral do you still have the notice e-mail with my original message with the link to the other post? If so could you post it back in here for me because I cant find the link anymore

Whoops. I just didn't want to see the guy hurt his car and then spend money on something that wasn't going to help.

Its all good man, I appreciate the input. Like I said though I will have Rosenthal test everything out when I take it up there next week and if everything checks out RB flash here I come .

Hey to the people in here that have it, what do you think of the flash? any noticeable differences? or is it minimal? Is it worth the 300 bucks?

I just shipped out my PCM today. Now to wait.......... I should have it back around Dec 7. This is what sucks about getting a flash, not only do you have to wait for it to make it to them, you also have to wait for it to come back.

You could look at it this way, the cooling fan mod is 150$. The flash has that mod in it so your sort of only paying 150$ for the flash.

I got lucky and got the flash for free, so I'm gonna take some of that money I saved and put my car on a dyno to see what the HP looks like on a 06 and with the flash.

Did you dyno before you sent the ECU off that way you have a baseline?

i'm planning on dynoing my car soon. i've got an AEM CAI and a Borla catback. I also have updated plugs and the R flash. I'll see what I put down and then send my ECU to RB. Can't wait to see the results considering I have none RB CAI and catback. But I may not get to do this until January. It's Christmas, the time of merriness, cheer, and brokeness.

No cause I dont really care to know what it had stock, I'll just assume it was in the 185 area like most people. Most dyno could have a 5-10 hp error anyways considering the runs would be 3 weeks or so a part and maybe differant weather.

I just wanna see what the numbers are and what the wideban will pick up with the new curve.
