Mine just came UPS. Must resist... need to work, but it's oh so tempting.
First impressions after unpacking is that it is a quality piece. Though I was surprised to see that the only way to get to the air filter is through the back by taking off a number of bolts. This would necessitate removing the entire air box to clean and re-oil the filter if I am not mistaken.

Mazda has been using the same principle of tuning but used it for a different effect. Apparently we don't have to worry about the tuning of the intake itself as this is purely for sound. The intake manifold is where the most beneficial pressure waves are anyways.

no you dont have to take the air box off to remove the filter. you have to loosen the maf tube clamp , move that pieve out of the way and then undo the bolts you metion and pull the filter out. a bit more labor intensive than getting the stock box open and that filter out. maybe - i couldnt get that damn box open anyway:D

yeah, getting at the filter in the stock box is a bit of a pain, but moving it back and up seemed to do the trick. However, maintanence instructions for the K&N say to clean and re-oil every 50,000 miles, so I can live with it without to much trouble...

Guys/Gals- I haven't quite made it through this whole thread yet but since I hadn't seen this question asked yet I thought I'd throw it out there. Is anyone concerned about heat transfer from the aluminum MAF pipe?

Well, just got it installed, took about two hours. Directions were excellent, and parts fit eactly as they are meant to. That's the good news.
The bad news is, my 8 feels sluggish. I took it for a drive that usaually provides some good opportunities to go from a stop to 6th gear without much worry of police, or pedestians. At one particular stop sign that turns onto a country highway, I usually take the opportunity to run through the gears till I get to about 90mph, which doesn't take that long. One of the thing that I love about this car is that it winds up so fast. Well, it seems like it's not doing that. Throttle response seems slower and weaker.
I checked under the hood at the far end of my drive, and everything was in place. The drive back was just as dissapointing.
Now, to be fair, I am no gear head. But I don't see how this install could be messed up.
I guess I'll call RB tomorrow and see what they have to say about it. I hope that somehow I missed something, though I am not getting a CEL, and the cars does run fine. Anyone else do their installation yet?

That is strange... I drove Brillos who has the intake and then got back in mine and I could tell that his was snappier and felt more responsive. I am excited about getting mine, I also have the RB exhaust. Brillo has the stock exhaust. Do you have a CAT back?? Did you reset the ECU??

I do not have a CATback, this is my first performance upgrade. And no, I did not reset the ECU. Should I have too? I mean, it says nothing about doing that in the directions, but on the other hand, it would be great if what I am experiencing is just a bonehead maneuver, like not resetting the ECU...

Air would be moving SOO quickly thru that small portion of piping, I can't see it being an issue.

Disconnect the neg battery terminal for a couple minutes, then reconnect and drive for awhile. Report back, I bet you'll feel a difference.

Yes you absolutely should reset the ECU
Check for air leaks around the MAF tube
After searching around the site, it seems logical that ressetting the ECU might fix the problem. It just didn't occur to me...

I believe the 20 taps while the battery is connected is a test but I believe it resets the ECU.. Your gas milage may be affected for the 1st couple of tanks after you do this.

Wildcard, what do you think...
I think the intake is pretty good. Will you be able to take the intake and make a ram intake with your $30 mod?
I can see that REVi intake have a very short intake tube... any idea from RB end to lengthen it?

mid-year...
Lucky ... I was holding my breath for a pic.
I am not planning to do my intake due to the stupid insurance limit on the number of mods... but this is a great looking intake. My top choice.
