it was pretty simple taking off the front bumper... just a punch of those plastic clips and 10 bolts underneath the car. The biggest problem i had taking off the front bumper was disconnecting the fog lights :/ i know it may sound stupid but i scratched my arm up alot tryin to get that sucker out.

Just got back from my first test drive - wow is all I can say. With my mods this intake rocks! Idle is stable, cruising around town I was barely touching the gas which was sweet - I can see improved MPG. And then WOT was... well, I'll let you make your own conclusions. All I can say is awesome. ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Word of caution - be careful with the o-ring around the MAF. I had a similar experience with the SR Iintake if you remember that old thread...

The RB Intake has a larger filter surface area; it is by far quieter also. This intake is highly engineered - nice quality. Reusing one of the mesh screens was ingenious. The inlet is a little strange with it ending right at the frame opening. The supplied foam donut sealed this connection and it was tricky to keep in place while reaching into the intake opening to tighten up the mounting bolts. Other than that, I forgot to reattach my fog lights, so I had to perform exploratory surgery with my hand and reach through the grill to re-attach them. :o
I'm very happy with the intake - Good Job Racing Beat!

Does this look normal
On the tube that the sensor attaches to, there is a cut out that does not appear to be very well finished... does this look normal?

I have removed it as well, no probs.
What I'd really like is to take the black plastic thing off the nose of my MS front end and replace the area behind it with an air collection scoop (sealed for better pressure) and channel all that air towards the intake. Guess I'll wait to see what the RB CAI addition is like before I custom make one of those.. not that it matters too much since I don't even have the intake yet. :p

there's plenty of air getting to it already by going up around the sides (just like it did with the stock pieces). i think the main reason for that piece is to keep water from splashing directly up into the intake. i figure tho that at least part of it if not all of it will have to go once RB comes out with their ram piece.

Ok guys listen to this. My friend Charlie who owns Mazcare just dyno'ed his 8 with this intake. Baseline dyno at 1200 miles (in 5th gear) was approx 186 some monthes ago. He has since added his own custom cat back, (almost like racing beats) act prolite flywheel(doesnt add h/p), the n flash, underdrive pulleys(did not feel that added anything. he yesterday added this intake(oh by the way he is a RB dealer) and this is the results of his dyno in 5th gear----ready----you sure-----(i know some are going to have all kind of disbelief's--- Ok here it is------- hp 201. something and get this TORQUE of 142! Now dont flame the dyno on differant days etc. This guy is a professional Mazda mechanic with years of racing experience and he says it's real. The power starts coming on at 4700 with a big jump at 8.5K. He will post his slip but he is packing for the Grand prix at road atlanata this w/e. This is for real guys! I get mine tomorrow!
