There was a definite difference after installing the intake. I don't know if my butt dyno is broken, but I'm a little confused about the changes. At WOT, the "power kick " or surges up in the high RPM ranges are much more pronounced, but only in 1st and 2nd gear for me. Does that mean a gain? In 3rd and 4th on the highway, the power feels flatter than before. And at idle it made my RB exhaust sound a little different. What else do I look for in terms of power gains?

I just got mine from rx8 store... no instructions were included... HELP!
Also, after looking at the intake - how in the heck are you supposed to clean it? Take it apart again?

Look at the side of the box that your intake was shipped. You'll see a big white folder...remove tape - Instructions!

Oops...just realized you purchased from rx8 store....RB put my instructions on the outside of the box.

Talking It Is Finally Installed!!

Finally got it installed today, :D along with the RB oil cooler and a/c screens. It did not take too long, about 2 1/2 hours for all 4 parts.

To whoever it was that recomended to mask the headlights, thank you. I did not realize how soft the lenses are. One got a little nick, because I masked them before taking the nose off. I would recommend taking the nose off, and then masking.

It definately feels faster, it revs faster, and it sounds a LOT different. It is loud, but not as loud as other intakes I have heard on other cars. I kinda like it, it is not audible at crusing, but get into it, and it makes itself known. I am also going to track mileage against what I was getting before, see if there is any difference.

I am not sure why some folks did not get the instructions, mine were on the side of the box, just like someone else mentioned. I am not sure if it would be ok to scan them and PM them to those that need them. RB might fax or email a copy to those that need them.

I am going to post a couple pictures, just for fun, no website for me, so they will have to be done the old fashioned way.

I really had fun doing this, it has been a long time since i got under a car, and got all dirty. And it was easy, the a/c screen was the hardest part.

Looking at the intake, I guess you would have to take it back off the car to clean the filter? Or am I missing something?

I wish I had a way to make a sound clip, but my digital camera doe snto do that very good, actually it is pretty bad at that, good for pictures, not anything else.

It is easy, you need a basic knowledge fo taking things apart, organizing the various bits that come off the car, and be able to follow instrucitons. You don't need to know how to install an intake, there is a great set of instructions that come with it. Some of it is tricky, and it pays to have a good set of tools. More options when you come across a mounting bolt that is inside the intake, at the back, where you can't see it. That one was tricky. And you need to not be squeamish about taking apart your car, two people stopped to ask what i was doing to what seemed to be a perfectly good car.

To clean it, I think you take the back of it apart. Instrucitons for that are included with the installation instructions. It looks time consuming, but since you don't have to do it very often, probably not a big deal.

Would anyone be willing to scan your instructions and email them to me? I've had Jason fax over a copy but you can't make out the photos and RB can only mail me a copy. I was wanting to install this today. Thanks.

My lips are sealed - so nobody post these please. Mods, if you see anyone post them, please delete them ASAP.

I agree with Jim, and will not even ask that they get posted for any RB products in the future.
That doesn't make any sense.... all a competitor has to do is purchase the intake. Unless like me they don't receive the instructions!

I think that refers to psoting them on a public forum, it was discussed that they could just buy one. I can't scan mine today, they are at home, I might be able to do it tomorrow. PM me, and we can try to arrange something.

There is a unique sound to the rotary that almost sounds like a swarm of bees when you get on it and over about 6000 RPM I've noticed. However, since I had a Rotary Extreme intake at one time, I've concluded this sound is characteristic of the car with a higher flowing intake. Not to worry.

Thanks, but I had made prior plans to install the intake today, because I was to receive it yesterday... I've had RB mail me a copy of the instructions. I'm really upset right now, I didn't receive an invoice, installation instructions - nothing! They will not provide me with an electronic copy... this is bad customer service.

Guys, I'm sure if you call or write to RB they'll be happy to send you a set of instructions if you didn't get them.

I get a faint buzzing noise as well.....then I put my ears close to my hood where the intake is, and found that it was just the suction noise from the intake, more like a whinning sound.

I did, they will not email them because of concerns someone will copy their product... I mentioned to him that all they would have to do is order the product and boom - they have the instructions, he responded that RB would at least have the money from that sale - well now they have a pissed off customer... and I'm not the only one here who didn't receive instructions. All they will do is put them in the mail to me. Sorry, but when I pay $300 for a product I expect everything to be included when I recieve it.

The only people to not receive instructions ordered theirs through RX8store and not directly from Racing Beat.
