I think Charlie, a.k.a.Marietta 8 has tested it on an AT. He was talking about it at our meet this week. I can not for the life of me remember what he decided, Charlie, are you out there.

cel after starting a car when it was parked with no cel is usually the evap test failure. check your gas cap if you filled up. it may have nothing to do with the intake at all.

It will work on an AT. Their webpage has been updated to say "ALL models".

Being that the US dollar is in the tank, we have been recieving a TON of requests for Mazda products from international customers. The main problem that we have is confriming fitment of some of these parts on non-US spec cars. This has always made us approach this rather conservatively and alert a potential customer of a possible fitment issue. The last thing we want is to have someone order a part and pay for international shipment, only to have it not fit or function correctly! (The return freight is just as costly!)

So... it is time to get busy and maybe undertake some homework on this. I will end a few of our new intake units to sources in Japan, Australia, and Europe in order to determine if any fitting issues arise. If you are from a country outside of the US and currently have an RX-8, let me know some general specs of your car. If possible send me a couple of digital photos of the engine bay for reference.

I wouldn't worry too much about your warranty... I actually had the Mazda dealer here in Nanaimo do the install!

I'm wondering about the color question that came up a couple pages ago? I'm waiting to purchase one based on that question. I would love to get the unit in black, with red accents (red on all the existing blue portions of the intake as it is selling now). I know others have expressed interest, and I know that since the interior leather came in red/black in some of our 8's, there are probably more potential buyers waiting on this as well. How far is this from happening? Is it something that Racing Beat will consider at this point?

Sorry about the instructions, we apparently sent out a few kits (less than 10) without instructions. As soon as they left the building, our shipping guys realized the mistake and quickly pulled the order sheets and dropped a set of instructions in the mail to each customer. It appears that UPS is faster than the USPS and the kits are arriving before the instructions. If you need a set, give us a call and we can make provisions to supply a set.

The ram air duct is well underway, the “plug” has been sent to the tooling shop so that that the production mold can be produced. Now that we have found a more reliable rotational molding shop, things are progressing at a much faster pace than they did with the developmental work with the REVi unit. Once the mold is produced, I would hope to have parts available very shortly thereafter. The timeline still looks like it will be later this spring.

We have produced a couple color samples of the REVi box in both RED and BLUE. They are both pretty bright and bold….. maybe too much for our liking. Since we already have the aluminum pieces already produced and colored with anodized light blue, the color combinations are even bolder. We will probably limit the color options to just a few, maybe red, dark blue, and dark grey.

One of our sales guys is working on a color selector poll that we would like to put up on the site, hopefully we can work out the bugs and get this to display correctly. We would like to obtain your opinion of what YOU prefer. I will try and place a photo of the sample parts up on the site for reference.

Thanks for the update Jim, they're always appreciated. Also, good to hear the ram air duct is moving along nicely. Would it be possible to make the intake all black? Or is it Possible for a normal guy like me to remove the colors somehow? Thanks.

That's great because I'm waiting for that to be available. I'll buy the intake together with the duct 'cause I don't feel like taking the nose off one more time than needed.

Dark grey sounds perfect to me.

Thanks for the good news about the progress.

The dark gray does sound interesting, it will provide enough contrast from the black to make it look interesting, while still remaining low key. The other colors are rather bright (think primary red, blue, yellow, etc..) and REALLy make the box standout. If you are looking to make a statement, then you may like these colors. (Sorry, the color is not a surface color and cannot be removed.)

I will have our guys remove our box and install these sample units for color comparisions. Once we place the "poll" on the site I will include them on the page.

yeah dark grey sounds like a great Idea!

I'm also waiting(patiently) for the ram kit, so I could install both intake, ram air and rad+oil screens at once.

BTW I am very interested in your body kit if there was some way to buy it pre painted.

Sounds good Jim, as long is it's pretty subtle it's fine by my. I'll be purchasing a kit of my own very shortly thanks to all the good reviews of your product. I just need to finish school so I can be home to install it.

How about clear blue? It would be really cool to open up the hood and be able to see its magical inner workings.

Folks, Racing Beat posted the following on the website:

"Stock vs Racing Beat
REVi Intake Adds An Average 1.95 HP Over The Stock System - 2000-8900 RPM Range

Peak RPM Gains Over Stock - 3.5 HP @ 8300 RPM

Maximum Power Gain Over Stock - 5.8 HP @ 8900 RPM"

What is the difference between Peak RPM gains versus maximum Power Gain?
