CF cost to much I don’t think Racing Beat is planning on that. Most likely it will be plastic.

i looked at some pics of the RX8 auto exe one just now and it doesnt look like carbon fiber. i did see pics of a carbon fibre looking one for a 7 just no the 8. as said above the CF is just to xpensive for an intake box and would price it well above what most people are willing to pay for even the best intake. this is being made of plastic.

looks just like a stock intake with cone filter inside instead of a flat filter.

u have to look at the other piece of the intake... the plastic thing without a filter inside. that's like a scoop that you install that picks up cold air from the like middle of your front bumper. a very cool design i might add

how about haveing a pipe go down from the intake to a cold part of the car like underneath it ? Or somehwhere closer to the fron of the bumper mouth ? I know that could have be considered, but myabe there wasnt enough space.

If you were looking directly at one vs. a stock airbox side by side, you wouldn't think so.

I'm thinking the same thing, JeRKy. No point in buying RB's intake just to replace it 7-8 months from now with a turbo. Especially since I hope to be able to mod the stock intake box to work with the GReddy turbo's intake (just like GReddy did, but without the Lexan).

So what stage is it in now? Still waiting? I'll bet you anything RB will post here saying it will be another 4-5 weeks. So Jim, really stop messing around and tell us what the hell is taking so long?

Man, it's going to be February on Tuesday - Is this ever going to happen? From their RXTuner article, they mentioned a Ram Air Duct. Does anyone know what this is all about? Fanman, go by and check it out for us...

"We have spent considerable time developing a new air filter intake assembly that not only offers improved power output, but also reduces the intake noise to a tolerable level. The system is in the final testing stage and, based on results so far, it should add 4 to 5 hp while offering a comfortable intake sound level. In addition to the inlet filter assembly, we have developed a Ram Air Duct that replaces the stock Variable Fresh Air Duct (VFAD) located under the front bumper. Testing has shown an increase in inlet air pressure and a reduction in air temperature that should add a few more horsepower at high speed."

Guys,

I have long ago stopped giving completion dates because delay after delay kept popping up during the production of the intake box. Even if I give you a detailed list of exactly what is causing the delay, it would only seem that I am making excuses. I realize that we are in a "no-win" situation with many of you that have been following this for the past few months, and you are rightly PO'd with us. I don't have an easy answer or "quick fix" for many of these issues. We are dealing with a new manufacturing process with regards to the box, and have encountered some issues that even the manufactur is having difficulty addressing.

I promise to give you an exact date as soon as it is known. We are honestly not trying to string you along with hype. I have purposely NOT released more information or photos to in order to prevent more "hype" and anticipation from growing. Although some companies may utilize this to their benefit in order to boost pre-order and sales, I do not believe in this tatic.

As always, let me know if you have any further questions.

Jim L

Please keep your normal process of bringing products to the market. It seems to provide us with quality parts. We are just like kids in a candy factory. I can wait because now I need tires. :D

I'm waiting to do the forced induction setup way down the road after my warranty has expired and all these turbos and superchargers have run through the summer months.

I'm really curious about this ram air duct you hinted about. Is it still going to be part of the whole package?

We are gettin' really close! We are field testing several final units, if all goes as planned we should be able to have units available in the VERY near future.

Great, glad you liked the suspesion!

The intake has been a rather long, labor of love project. We got hung out by a couple suppliers with regards to the production of the actual intake box, which caused a delay with the filter supplier, and MAF tube supplier, etc.....

I'm sure it will be worth waiting for, and I know I do not stand alone when I say that it's better to wait for quality than rush crap onto the market, and since no one else has been able to produce a truly worthwhile intake for the 8, our collective hopes lie with you, RB.

i just got off the phone with RB and the guy told me it will be on the shelf in 2 weeks. As far as cost he said around $300. And as far as power he said 4-5 Hp at the flywheel. What do u guys think? better than the HKS kit?
