Racing Beat Upgraded Oil Metering Pump for Turbos
Anybody using it or considering it for their FI or port job? How useful or necessary is it?
At what point (boost, hp, flow, fuel flow?) is it required?

hehe you should probable ask racing beat when it is required. as i understand it it just replaces teh second piston with the one from teh auto rx-8 (it's a larger one in teh low hp model i believe)...there for flowing more oil at higher rpm's / load. i don't think it's required with the greddy kit....it'll just help out with cooling at higher rpm.'s since the turbo uses the engines oil for cooling...and those babies get hot. i think i'd go for teh greddy oil pan befor the oil pump upgrade from RB. (it adds 600cc to your oil capacity). but down the road i don't think this is a bad idea....although it may be a lill over kill.
now if you had the SSR turbo...that might be anouther story. but i guess we'll find out. also i think it woudl be a good idea (if you are really interested) to write RB and ask them how much more it flows at higher loads/rpm's. i dont' think it's listed on their sight the exact specs for this upgrade.

I am wondering which one to get myself. Both are around the same price, either I get the metering oil pump mod, or the oil pan. My question with the oil pan is what different functional difference is there (other than an extra 1/2 quart of oil). I'm not going to buy a mod for the engine just because it looks cool. I brought this subject up a while back, but some of the posters stated that the oil metering pump for the car was already over-engineered for the car so even with boost the stock pump can handle it.

hmm...well with teh greddy pan you don't have to hook in the feed line to the turbo to the oil drain plug. i think it has baffling internally to keep the oil from sloushing around during cornering...least i'm pretty sure i saw that in the pic:D.
on my defi oil pressure gauge my car's max oil flow is 525kPa...and that happens at about 3-4k rpm at mid-max throttle. then it just holds that pressure all the way to redline. by the way 525kPa = 76.14489285326 psi. dunno if a biger secondary piston for the oil pump would improve this though. (also my car is NA..so i dunno if with a turbo it'll be a higher pressure or not....mechanics chime in anytime). hoep this helps some (hehe most likely not:p)
