Radiator Differences

Koyo and PWR radiators are similarly priced, then theres a big jump to those Mazdaspeed, Re-amiya, R-Magic etc radiators.

Whats up w/ the difference? Is it just purely because of JDM? I noticed for those more expensive radiators, it says its made from brass? And for the lower priced koya and pwr radiators, they are aluminum..

Are brass radiators better than aluminum radiators?

Thanx

Personally I prefer aluminum radiators because they don't heat up as fast as brass radiators.

what does heating up have to do with anything. the idea is how do they cool and how long do they last.. and yes. i do note you shameless link below... life is short act fast.

so inform us... btw, you might add how much more fluid the rad can hold, and how it might benifit.

Brass radiator will give you a heart attack..... During idling, you'll see water temp shot up so fast, just like petrol price.......

I'm using Greddy aluminium type, it's more stable....

I have the PWR unit. I can't see any radiator substantially bigger as it completely fills in the space between the front of the car & the engine now. There is very little room left vs. the stock radiator which is easily half the size of the PWR unit.

I have the Koyo. It is physically identical to the PWR (I've seen them side-by-side).
As FanMan noted, it is more than twice as thick as the OEM rad.
That coupled with a 1.1 BAR rad cap and you are invincible.
Well, not really.
But you will fare better.

ron davis makes a bad *** rad but holy crap are they expensive.... top quality though

mm- what type of temp differences do you see between the stock one you had a while ago and the new one??? are you using high speed fans with it...

i am paritng out my mx6... possibly going turbo here shortly and i was wondering if i could get away with using the stock rad with the 2500 cfm fans from the 6... or should i get the rad and couple it with the slim line fans? are there any fitment issues?

oh and the guy who bought the insanely built kl motor is throwing it in a mx3, he is thinking 600 whp

The only two radiators worth getting are the Mazdaspeed one for $666 + shipping, and the Black Halo Racing one for $525 shipped.

what about autoexe's sports radiator?
http://www.autoexe.co.jp/SozaiTopPag...asyubetsu.html

Sports Radiator
This sports radiator uses aluminum material high in heat release performance up to the resin upper and lower tank portion of the factory parts as well as the core. Regarding the cooling outer fin, which has the role of cooling the coolant by channeling wind resistance, employing a special fin with increased pitch increases draft amount and enhances the coolant effect. The result is an improvement of approximately 35% more heat discharge compared to the factory model.

ahh, since someone pull this thread back I should point out that Autoexe's radiator is actually Koyo's Radiator.

So there is no point paying Autoexe 600+ bux for something you can get anywhere for 300+ bux.

Get either BHR's Radiator, Or Ron Davis Radiator from Mazmart.

I have digital water temperatures gauges that show the stock Rad not doing enough cooling. (230 + degrees)

For some reason. I get 212f(100c) most of the time.

Koyo, and Mazmart rad.

the different is that, with Mazmart/Ron Davis, it seems that it cools down much faster.

I will switch back to Koyo one day to check it out. the koyo rad is in my garage collecting dust right now

yeah, I saw 230 a few times with the stock Rad when it was 95+ degrees outside.
With the BHR, the temps dont get as high as OEM and if they do, they definitely go down much faster.

yup, reused the stock foam. Crazy glue is our friend.
I rarely see 210+ but it gets 100+ here from time to time. No worries about the pm, just thought you would enjoy that thread. Next time
