The Ram air is compatable withthe OEM air box.. IT goes inplace of the Air intake Defuser pipe thats under your Bumper.

Why? Do you have one on your car?

I'm just curious if this is indeed a ram air do you have to worry about getting water in the intake if you say drive in the rain?

From the link below it looks like it will sit where the black grill is.

"Ram air" is generally just marketing lingo to lure people into buying a product. It is rarely effective at speed less than 100mph. Just sticking a snorkel into the path of wind is not ram air. "Cool air" duct seems to be a more appropriate name. This thing may cause a ram effect, but only at speeds where you should be on a track, and then maybe 3hp. But I'm no expert, just voicing my opinions.

Nem,
I did air temp measurments a long time ago and believe me at below 50 mph there is no air moving in the airintake area. ANY kind of cool air duct will work here. You can feel a little differance at 80+mph when the intake is routed to catch air. You can get a little more lift throttle surge when you are over 100mpg also!

IMHO- i like this duct. its well made and well engineered. i dont think i would have a revi without it. I might if i didnt get teh revi put it on inplace of the VFAD. i havent tried it that way but i hope someone does. On my car it has a little better torques and throttle response in 2nd gear from about 2500 rpm till about 4 or 4500 where it seems the same as the plain revi. the sound is changed but its subtle and hard to describe - more of a whine i think. Alos i noticed a definite increase in response in 6th gear cruising. I bet that is actually due to a pressure increase at speed( "ram") overall im very pleased with the addition to the revi. However i think for some it will be too subtle a change over the revi alone and they wont like it. I can tell you it definetly had an effect on my MPG thispast week. Defintely has gone down because of the amount of time i have spent with the pedal mashed listening to the new , and really good, sound and feeling the shove int he seat in second gear

I have the REVi intake. I never monitored the stock box temps - missed that one.

Man, this is slick engineering. They have a scrubber built into the back side to separate the air flow from the water flow, then they have holes drilled to let the water escape out the back.

Nice R&D on this unit.

I'm running on my 5th tank and I am still getting a gas milage increase.

Of course you can get crappy milage. I only get 6 to 8 mpg on the track.

Glad you like it Nemisis8

I ran down to RB yesterday and picked up the Ram Air.

First, excellent construction. Solid and well designed.

Installation was pretty easy. It took me ~1.5 hours to install this by myself , would have been shorter if I had not forgotten to hook up the fog lights. Its form and fit are excellent, just take your time to make sure the foam seal is in its proper place and the air duct is snug with it all the way around.

Impression after driving. I took a short drive last night and I immediately noticed better acceleration from +60 mph. I was a little concerned my butt dyno was being influenced by the placebo effect, so I decided I would get a better idea once I drove to work. So after my drive to work and back today and can honestly say there is no placebo effect. Acceleration and pull are stronger and more smooth then before and when the AUX intake port opens there is no noticeable lag or hesitation.

The sound with the Ram Air is only slightly changed from just the REVi alone. With just the REVi you can hear a subtle metalic sucking sound while idling the Ram Air seems to make this a little more pronounced. I like the sound.

If you have REVi I highly recommend picking up the Ram Air Duct. Great addition to the REVi and another excellent product from Racing Beat.

I'm sorry guys . Don't get me wrong I really like RB's stuff but this piece of plastic is too overpriced for me. I have the REvi (great intake) the cat back (again great job RB) and the sways (once again) but over $100 for this? Yes I know the R&D factor, the marketing factor all have to be accounted for right? Well in this case i dont buy that. The design factor is no real brainer and the marketing has already been done with the intake. Sorry RB I cant support you on this one. i am sure it is well made etc but come on RB give us guys a break here. Not all of us have money like that for that kind of part man.
If anyone wants to flame me go ahead. I'll just take my bifocals off and will not be able to see a damn thing.

Everything for the 8 seems over priced IMO. But in context, the REVi duct was a better value to me than many of the other mods I have. When compared to the 05 key fob, strakes, leather wrapped brake handle, my rear fog light or most the other pieces I have for that matter, this was a deal.

no!!!!! and it doesnt make sense that you are smelling gas. only air is going throught the revi. the gas is injected way behind everything you worked on....

unless you have an overoiled filter and are smelling that, but i think that is doubtful.

beers
