Reliable RX-8 Turbo Kit.......
First and foremost i want to say thanks to everyone who puts their knowledge in these forums, as it provides a great deal of help when debating over a product. Being a fairly new RX-8 owner ( Jul 07' ) i am looking for a very reliable turbo kit that will remain safe with stock internals. being in iraq until next dec ( 08' ) i can only research and go off of what is posted. I am planning on turning my 8 into a show car but i do not want it to be ' all show and no go' as they say. i have read and heard alot of good things about the Greddy turbo kit and for the price it sounds like the best option. I would like feed back on the Greddy kit or any other kit in use by other 8 owners, i am looking for any information and or stats that will help me make a better choice for which kit will be worth the money.....
On the contrary, i have been reading numerous threads and it got me really thinking about whether or not to put a turbo on my 8 at all. I know turbo's are the quikest way to add hp, but i am not sure if i really need it. Like i said above i am going for a show theme, i am more or a cruising type of guy who doesn't do the whole street racing scene. I have been researching some bolt ons such as, CAI, Pulley's, Lightened Flywheel, Short Shifter and catback exhaust to name a few. Now i know these bolt-ons will put me no where near what a turbo kit would, but i feel they give me a some more hp to play with and would be money better spent. Being a 'Noob' i am open to suggestions as well as any information as to what parts i can upgrade to gain a few hp.
Ok last thing i am gonna add ( hopefully ) i keep reading about people using 2 stroke oil in their 8's, what is the deal with this. Is it necessary? Info???
From the Front Lines, Rob

its all in the tune of the kit. basically all the kits are fine to run with, just with some, the starting price isnt the final price. you have to factor in upgrade parts for the greddy kit, then tuning, dyno runs, extra's like guages and all that good stuff. IMO, there are 2 top kits, the esmeril turbo kit, which can be found here https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/esmeril-racing-turbo-kit-released-125203/ and here http://www.mazdaparts.com/ProductDet...000-1187386533, or you can go with one of the three Mazsport kits found here http://www.mazsport.net/store/index....oduct_list&c=7
