revi w/ air duct OR AEM
yeah i post the thread earlier about the MS CAI or the AEM CAI n i guess the result
is pretty obvious the AEM 1 and then i found the revi w/ air duct is also really good
so im just wondering which 1 is better AEM or revi w/ air duct. if the revi is better, how much better. is it worth the extra 200 dollars? what about the HKS intake. it cost the same as the revi w/air duct.

Just depends what you want, they all give worthless power gains for alot of $$$. If you want looks or loud sound. K&N is really loud and so is the HKS. People like the RB cause its not loud and looks stock/clean. Out of both the RB most likly would work alittle better cause it gets its air from outside the car sitting, but when the car is moving is probaly about the same.
Most people just put the Rev duct on the stock air box. Even thats like 125$ down the drain. Then again I'm a bit of a cheap ***.
I'm just gonna take out the Vafd or whatever and put in a better filter. Then if I feel like it. Im gonna get out my heat gun and bend up so 3" or 4" PVC pipe to make some sort of ram air/cold air duct..

I have the AEM installed. Seems like I get more power around 5500-7500. You wont get a lot of power with any intake system on the rx8. maybe5-6 hp at the peak. I also raced my friends stock 6spd rx8. I smoked him like 3-4 car lenghts, I jumped on him about 1 car length. then I slowly started pulling away. I also have greddy sp2 catback exhaust system. and I have a shinka, so I think the stiffer suspension system did help a lot too. anywayz, im babbling on, Just get the AEM, best one i think.

I have AEM and I LOVE it!! as far as hydrolocking, the filter has to be fully submerged to hydrolock, but if you're stupid enough to drive into a flooded area your a dumbass so thats your own damn fault. There are hundreds of posts about the AEM and REVi just to let you know!

I absolutely love my AEM.... It was a little tedious to install, (of course we did it in the fading daylight without a garage
)but well worth the time. It gives the car a really nice growl as well at WOT.
To get an idea of how it sounds here is the link to a video we took after the AEM was installed, I beleive the windows were open when it was taken:
