RP Short Shifter (get in the queue...!)
#79
Hi guys, I have an update on Richard's shifter....the following quotes were lifted from other threads.
From Yesterday....
The following from 14 NOV 04
This one from Richard directly today....
(Delrin is a high grade Dupont polymer....)
I don't know as yet what Richard plans to do with regards to the offset for a vertical shift **** @ neutral....
Richard will post himself about the cost of these shifters in due course.....everyone (incl tokenbrit) be patient.
Regards, Gomez.

"The specs on the shifter are as follows: One piece stainless steel shift arm as opposed to the Mazdaspeed two piece with rubber insert. 27% decrease in throw. Same height plus 5 mm with stock ****. Spacer plate fine machined and adjusted to eliminate gaskets. Sealant included in kit. Longer bolts in kit are higher grade then stock. Locating dowels have ground OD. Molded nylon parts are replaced with superior machined Delrin.
All CNC machined to aerospace standards. You will notice as with everything we make, we look for the finest materials (within reason of course) to start with. While this adds to the cost, in the end isn't the highest cost in the mix. We feel it is worth it to the end user."

Nojooc, depending on where you are. I have given rights to sell these down under and across the pond to Hymee and he will be getting some of the first kits. There will be two beta test units running in less then 10 days. When we get the feedback they will be released for shipping.
If you are someplace else sales will be direct from me.
When they are ready for sale there will be a new thread on the vendor forum. At least I think that is how it works.

Yes of course we retain the lockout. Have no fear we wouldn't do that to you.
Rasputin, I don't know that. You might check the part numbers and see if the same shifter fits in stock transmitions. They may be entirely different trans from different venders. Or they could be built inhouse and share parts. What is the splt in sales over there? Also the highperformance driver usually buy the 6 speed anyway.

As the design has evolved we adjusted it so that our pivot socket will be replaceable if needed. Quickly and easiely to boot. On the stock and Mazdaspeed it is not serviceable, you have to replace the whole unit.
Just another engineering advantage for our customers.
