RP Supercat vs. RX8Store cat?
#2
I too am intrested. I know many people have the supercat, and seeing that it is not that much more expensive that the Rx8store cat people buy it because of it's good rep. The Rx8store hi flow cat is not as popular, and no one wants to "try" it. If anyone has an Rx8store hi flow cat please post here, and how you like it.

I have the rx8store.net high flow cat and the MS Sport exhaust. I like it alot and it sounds great. You can drive quietly if you want or you can keep the rpm low and have a growling sound that is deep. If you run hard in the upper rpm's you get a louder agressive sound. Kindof a raspy sound if you lay into it that way. I can say that I do feel that the car revs up faser and there is alittle more torque.
I can get some sound clips if you want.

I have the rp cat with the ms exhaust and i like it. It is kinda raspy between about 3-5k and kind of annoying when i first got it. Now its either gotten less raspy or i just dont notice it because it doesnt bother me anymore. Below that its nice, deep and low. Above that its very loud, agressive and racecar-ish. I like it.

RP supercat on a stock exhaust is a little raspy when it's cold. Once it warms up, it sounds great. If it still sounds raspy, you probably have a leak somewhere, so check your fittings... after it cools down of course.

The RP supercat is more expensive, but I havent heard many opinions about any other cats
RP superact: $395 + $30 for bolt and gasket kit.
RX8store hfc: $345, I dont know if that includes the bolts and gaskets.

In addition, no one here should feel as though they are taking a "chance" with his products. Jason's prices are as competitive as you can get on most RX-8 parts and accessories and the quality is there if you ask the owner's of his exhausts and midpipes. I personally had the RX8Store exhaust for a couple years and it was well constructed, looked great and sounded awesome. Obligations forced me to sell unfortunately.

The RP cat is a metallic cat which can handle heat better than our stock ceramic cat. I don't know what type of element the RX8store version will use, but metallic seems to be more durable.
