Is it loud?

Anyone have any idea what HP you lose with the resonator on the SR cat?

Given that most people say that the improvement w/o resonator is hardly noticeable, I'd say that the resonator will hardly affect it.

Personally, just those few hp extra you get out of a midpipe isn't worth polluting the air (not to mention putting up with the stench).

Well, I dynoed it at 4-5 hp across the rev range, & the RP Supercat unit gives about 6-8 so a guess of about 1-2 hp is probably right.

I totally agree. Think they should ban midpipes outright. Also it will make it loud as hell if you have an aftermarket exhaust, & will likely cause you to trip your CEL light. Not really worth it for maybe 1-2 hp over some of the hi-flow cat units.

Does the RP supercat have a resonator? Which one would be louder, the SR cat with resonator or the RP supercat. I have the RB exhaust and I'm looking for the quietest option available. Thanks.

dont think it matters much with the rb exhaust... the cat will take care of most of the noise. the resonator will take care of more.

No the RP Supercat does not have an additional resonator. The RP Supercat is a bit louder. I had the exact setup you are looking at. Go for the SR unit & have them throw the extra resonator on it. That would be the quietest option (but still a level above just the RB unit).

my RP cat makes my stock exhaust sound like a ricer fart pipe between 4-5k rpms for some reason... i got some of the sound to change with different ignition timing at that rpm, but thinking about getting a resonator welded in

Cool, thanks for the replies. I think the RP cat w/ resonator might be the way to go especially if it's just a couple HP difference.

A little off topic, but I'll put it here anyhow

What kind of effect does a highflow cat have on fuel economy?
A "in theory" answer is fine.

Not much change if any and I installed just before winter.

Average 19.5mpg w/o tuning. Hoping to raise that a bit with tuning

I suppose if I ask how much those and the OE cat pipe weigh I'll get 30 different answers ...

Backfire Tuned

The RP unit is a bit louder because it does not have the silencer on the unit.
What was done to tune the pop/backfire.I've been experiencing this but I don't have turbo.I just have the RB Revi w/Ram Air duct,S&R High Flow Cat,Magnaflow Exhaust and Unorthodox Pulleys.
