RPM max when braking on auto
I've got an auto and the RPM wont go past 3 when braking to race it from a stop because of the computer or w/e. Is there a simple way to raise or remove it? Or is it a pain in the ***? This happens with the hand brake 2.

so your saying that when you step on the brake at a stop and try to rev the motor in drive , it wont go past 3k rpm?
It sounds like your trying to pre-load the drivetrain/wheels with tq for a better launch.
Thats REALLY hard on the drivetrain, if there is a limiter, I dont think it could be easily removed from the RX8 ecu.

Not sure how you would get a better launch without the risk of abusing the car. My 8 has the AT like yours. For me personally, I just take off from idle. When the tach sweeps past about 5K, then I feel plenty of accelerative rush. It's sort of a delayed-gratification thing. You still get pushed back in your seat, just not immediately off the line.

I'm sorry to do this, coz you have probably heard this from other M/T RX-8s already, but
<rant>
STOP RACING AN AUTOMATIC RX-8!!! This is why everyone out there disrespects the RX-8. You are making every one of us look bad on the street. Even a Civic laughs at an RX-8.

the engine will not go any higher because 3k is the stall speed of your AT's torque convertor. you realize, that by doing that you are putting EXTREME stress on your TC and it ultimately will overheat the fluid and cause for poor shifting and power transfer once you launch.
launch off idle or you wont be launching much longer. the transmission in my last car failed at 55k miles because of doing that every so often

I'm with Xyntax, if you really are that concerned with launching, you picked the wrong transmission option. And if you are truly that concerned with straightline acceleration, you picked the wrong car. Maybe when a twin screw sc comes out for the automatic, but until then you're out of luck.

^ I'm not really one to flame on people, but this just annoys me. I've met a few A/T RX-8s on the road that race me or other cars, and they are just horrible. I haven't seen one smoke another car (EVER), not even Civics and Jettas. These are the kids who think they're driving the fastest car, just because it looks fast. I don't mind A/T RX-8s, I think they are perfect for those who like to drive refined sports cars but love the convenience of not having to shift all the time.
Really now, maybe you had no choice in buying the A/T in the first place, but please for everyone's sake stop treating it like a race car. It just isn't--period. Style it for show, but don't race it.

[Rant]Stop crying people. The 8's not stoplight to stoplight fast in any stock trim. Stop street racing, not because you have an AT, but because you might kill me or someone I know. That goes for you idiots who street race with the MT too.[/Rant]
There's no limiter, the flash stall on the torque converter is around 2300rpm, the brakes just manage to hold it back until around 2500-3000rpm. The only way to change this is to change the TC.
