rx8 engine swap front wheel drive
#53
Homey... this is ******* hilarious... and coincidental... You wanna build your accent? theres one of two things you can do go to hyundaiforums.com... Real cool guys there. talk to komptek... or... Trade yours in (Like I did) and get an RX8... BTW guys... you'd probably be shocked the 06-08 accents with mild suspension mods and a little power... are actually QUITE Competent in low speed ( 20-70 mph )handling... Some times i miss mine but then I Accellerate faster than 9 second 0-60 and remember why I bought this car.
Seriously though... Go one way or the other...
Be either an Underdog with the accent... Or be a Competitor with a Sports car...
As far as I'm concerned, It was always a win/win situation for me.
**edit*** btw.. just in case this isn't the same guy who was trying to swap an STI engine/DT on the hyundai forums is it?
Dude... You've got two options... on one... the G4ED (your engine) has the same block as the old Scoupes which could push upwards of 600 hp... Now... .you can be patient and wait for engine and performance development to be done... as the engine you have actually DOES respond very well to upgrades especially with the CVVT and the learning transmission...
Or you could NOT wait the 2-6 years it will take for the necessary parts to come out... and trade it in for a faster car... Like I did.
And dont spend UNGODLY ammounts of money completely changing out the heart of a car.. If you like the accent, build the accent. If you dont... build something else...
Whatever you do... Good luck.

OK!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! you want to spend 10k on an accent... this is a legitimate modification... has been done before... can probably even find instructions how...
GET A Beta Motor, Turbo it, and get an Eclipse or talon awd drive train.
Easy 300+ Horsepower.
It was done on the rally accent in the mid 90s and it CAN be done with your car...
(Why the **** would you want to put a rotary motor on a car that has had the mods done BEFORE to make it a rally car???)

Dude, it's been done. A rotary as a FWD is possible, here's a Civic Hatch with a 13b in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU
