i dont really agree with huey
.if you dont feel the difference(which my wife could tell there was a little more pull she drives it more)you can for sure hear it.it makes the car so much deeper. the weight of the factory airbox i heavier also.and to atilla i just looked into the Accessport and it looks pretty good only 5 hp though.the exhaust and intake are both cheaper and provide more hp upgrade, but do you know if they make other maps for the tuner? i only saw stage 1 on there website im sure they make more id like to look into that if it gives more hp for the other stages

ash: custom tunes by MM have been documented on dyno's and witnessed both in person and on live streaming by many forum members. There are also specialized tuners that can do the same - Cobb's base maps are just that...base. Basically at the very least you can expect that. Certain tuners (like Mazdamaniac) specialize in tuning rx8's where as most are just familiar with tuning the typical piston pushing car. There is a significant difference.
Intakes are hit or miss. For the money you spend on an intake and exhaust you could have purchased an accessport w/tunes from MM and seen greater results. Don't be fooled by 'the butt dyno' what you feel and what is true are two different things. Put it on a dyno and get the real numbers so that way you can know for sure what you're actually feeling albiet true horsepower or just sound...

I was being a bit terse given the OP's obvious disinclination to search a subject matter that has already been discussed in great detail over a period of years.
I should have elaborated that an aftermarket intake will only garner minimal gains, as the stock is already pretty well optimized.
Money in this context would be better spent on a CobbAP with MM tune and/or a BHR iginition as initial enhancements.
A Highflow Cat (street emissions legal) or midpipe (track only) do provide good NA gains.
Afterwhich for "ear of the beholder" value, as opposed to significant Hp gains, an aftermarket CAI and Cat-back exhaust are nice-to-haves.

ok fair enough.i have just always started with intake and exhaust on all my cars.at least for turbo cars it always helps to open both ends up na i think it always helped also.i actually would like to get one of those cobb tuners and mid pipe.those cats (two of them) are very restrictive and very expensive keep them.and to rx8 newbie ive seen turbo kits go up in price since ive had mine almost 1200 dollars.i use hopupracing.com they always have good prices.
