Short Throw Shifter

I'm looking into doing a complete trans. overhaul I just ordered my new ACT clutch and prolite flywheel, new trans, and wanted to investigate new short throws as well. Doing a google search I didn’t come up with many at all. When I did the search on here it led me to believe that the Richard Paul one was the best. So I just wanted to know anyone’s experience with a different one or if I should just contact him about his.

Thanks
Geo

You will like it.

Though I agree that it is a great mod it's not for everyone. I had it and loved it, the only thing I didn't like is that it makes the shifting allot notchier then normal. Though this was just on my car on others there has been no issues while on others it is an issue. One other downside is that it amplifies the gear noise, once again an issue on some cars but not all. The great thing is that the throws are allot shorter but I personally like the smother feel of the stock shifter. I say buy it try it out if you like it great, if not you can always sell it in the for sale thread for only a few bucks less then you paid for it. Mine sold in 6 hours Good Luck

Quick question for those who have the short shift mod: (heresy but!) have any of you driven a 350Z? I drove one just for kicks and my favorite part BY FAR was the shifter (VERY short and solid shifts). If its anything like that then hell yeah I'd say its worth it.

If you're upgrading the clutch, make sure you get the Mazsport Clutch Pedal Reinforcement, too. The stock assembly sucks with a stock Pressure Plate. I can't imagine how bad it is with an upgraded one.

just like some engines, some clutch peddle brackets are a little bit flimsy. They are designed to wobble a bit, so the fact that yours might wobble doesn't mean impending doom.

What you need to look for is if the clutch peddle is starting to lean towards the brake peddle. It will be apparent something is amiss if it starts to happen. Only at that point will you need to look into replacing or upgrading the bracket. Most will not have issue though.

Also this is now getting off topic..

Take everything you liked about that 350 shifter . .. and make it 10 times better.

The AFE short shifter is the best mod I have ever done to any car I have owned.

They are that good.

Kudo's to the Axiaflow Engineering company. I ordered my short shifter from CT on Sunday, it arrived today for $9.70 against the $10.00 postal fee they charged me. I installed it in 20 minutes per the DIY instructions on their website. Couldn't be easier. Haven't tried it yet becaue its raining but I'm sure its sweet.

Now for the MS CAI, exhaust, RB sways, MS struts and new rotors and pads next week...

Update - drove the car over the weekend through about 240 miles of perfect CT roads.

I couldn't be happier with the shorter throws and snickity-snick-snick precision of the gates. It ven makes finding-and-not-grinding reverse a little easier.
