Porting/Polishing the throttle body is a viable enhancement. Of course it works best in combination with other performance modifications. Every little bit helps.

In all honesty, besides whether an upgraded TB is helpful or not, I would not buy engine parts of Ebay.

As long as its not some spoof eBay account it looks like this is BDC Motorsports out of Texas. Last time i checked they were legit

They have an RX8club account around here some where -- send them a PM.

I'm not sure to the effectiveness of the PPTB but i dont think this would classify as an "eBay part" like we're used to.

The person selling the TB is a member here and has offered this service here. There is a thread on it as well

wow, a legit find on ebay? That's rare.

+1 on going through the forum instead of ebay for the purchase though.

I wonder if this is similar to the larger TB's that I saw on the hyper rev rx8 catalog. dog fight pro, re plus, crk and luck offer an aftermarket TB that are 20mm larger than stock.

also, I've bought a few engine parts from ebay that are made by reputable manufacturers. and they all turned out to be fine. for example, I got an updated manual starter for a little over $100 (brand new) and it's still on my car until now. And so are the sparkplugs on my car, ebay specials fro $50 shipped. You just have to be smart enough to differentiate the legit parts from the bogus parts like the grounding kits, intake vortex generators, tb spacers and fuel line magnets.

Of course I'm legit. I've been in business for 7 years and have been doing throttle body work for that same amount of time albeit obviously not with the Rx8 ones. That's a more recent deal. I've got about 8 or 10 of them I've done out there and everybody that's got one has posted the exact same results and have said they were happy with them.

There's two up for sale right now; two auctions going at $200/ea. The breakdown of charges is $150 for the job (as I would normally charge someone who would send me theirs to do), $50 for the cost of the throttle body itself, and $0 for US ground shipping.

Dillsrotary, generally I would agree with you about buying engine parts on eBay. I get folks who IM me fairly often asking me about the condition of used rotors and rotor and/or iron housings that are up for sale and whether or not I would buy them. With stuff like that I'm very picky. However, I think in this case it's a moot point.

Side-by-side ones? Nope not that I know of. I'm not surprised it's the case with these though because I don't have too many out in the field yet. One customer of mine did one with one of my Turbo II throttle bodies about 4-5 years ago. As far as I know, that's the only one anyone has ever done with a before and after.

This mod WILL give the car a good bit of kick, even a stock one.

It's not smoke and mirrors and there's no false claims, Jantzen. It's a cheap (yet cost-effective) and easy mod that doesn't require hacking the whole car up and it yields the benefits I and others claim it does. Perhaps you should send me yours and I'll prove it to you.

Brian - I read a PPTB would bump up the idle. Is this true in all cases or just some. I am having idle issues and i'm running out of solutions so i might "need" this

Jantzen, I haven't seen that happen with the idle on the ones I've done locally. If it has, it's been minimal and/or unnoticed by anyone.

I still think you need it. You'll like it. It gives some zip to the car and it doesn't take too long to swap off.

How much is it to normally ship something from Aussie to the USA via air mail? In my ground shipping here from state to state, I normally factor in about $15. If it's not much more, perhaps we can work something out.

Normally I can get it out the same day it shows up. For you since you're in San Antonio, figure 1 day to ship.
