Standard/HM vs OEM grade????
Hi. My catalytic converter is out and I am looking a 2 high flow cats from Magnaflow.
One of them is OEM grade direct fit and the other is Standard/HM. They are both the same except it says the Standard/HM is NON OBDII? Does that mean it will give me a check engine light?? I messaged Magnaflow and they said the difference between the 2 cats was that one filtered emissions better than the other, but they both meet federal emissions test required for licensing my car. I don't want a constant CEL though. Does NON OBDII mean I will have one???

Be careful with any catalytic convertor, as you may not know that Rotary's have a much higher exhaust temperature than most cats can handle and are engineered for. Look on some of the posts on here about cats, and you'll see what I mean. Not only do you want a cat that doesn't give a light, you want one that will last more than 3 months.
I am sure more people will post their experiences with them. 200cpi or higher generally doesn't give a CEL, but that is really dependant on the cat.

None of the affordable aftermarket cats seem to last unfortunately. Even the famed Davesport cats have choked after a couple of months. There is one that Teamrx8 mentioned that has seemed to have lasted but IIRC, it is very expensive.

somebody posted about a failed Magnaflow recently
expensive, but still going strong
here is a lower cost core only that should work for most NA street cars, it will need inlet & outlet transition cones since the body is approx. 4" diameter.

I use the largest (and also highest flowing & most expensive) one they offer and it is almost 6" OD
