Tanabe Exhaust is on....

Was a 2.5 our job, installation was not hard at all.
WD40 to lube the hangers, a couple of screwdrivers to work them lose.
And socket #14 to remove the screws....

Will post some pictures of it on the car, but need to clean it first!

Thanks to Phil from: Driven Performance Equipment
Who got my sway bars and exhaust on time to my house.

Surprisingly quite.
It really shines at 6000 rpm....
Will do a sound clip/video tomorrow or Saturday.
Then you can judge for your self.
Fit, packing and finish was excellent!

Nice looking exhaust! I am so glad that someone finally decided to take a plunge and got Tanabe Super Medallion Hyper. I have gotten the Tanabe front sway bar sans rear due to SCCA b-stock class restriction. Had my eyes on the Tanabe exhaust along with Racing Beat/RX8store.

Thanks to TooBig for allowing me to take a ride in his very sweet ride fitted with RB exhaust, it was just a bit loud for my taste, LOL. Guess my age's finally caught up to me to crave for smooth sounding instead of thundering noise. And I thought RB was supposed to be the mature/quiet one?!

Did you know that Tanabe also has something brand new called "Touring Medallion", featured here: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=63138? Haven't seen it on www.tanabe-usa.com yet.

Will wait for your sound/video clip with great antiicipation! How about photo shots of the exhaust fitted on the car as well? Thanks!

Will do, (video clip & more pictures mounted on the car)
DPE is going to do the Greddy, Borla.
With the windows up redlining 1, 2, and 3 gear and a shot from behind with the car moving away....
I will try to do the same.
Buddy of mine has an RB and Revi and he might come over this weekend.
From what I remember, his setup was a bit louder..
The Tanabe is less "noisier" but still has a good sound.

It may be a few weeks, but we'll get similar videos to modena with stock, Greddy and Borla for comparison. And hopefully organize them on our site, with modenas, so it'll be very easy to check all of them out in one spot. We'll post in our forum once we have them up.

For those that like the Tanabe, I do have one in stock. Also have two GReddys, but one will go on one of our RX8s to get sound clips and check out fitment and such. Our other 8 has a Borla, which is quite nice. Those are also available for shipping in 24 hours.

Interesting fact, the Tanabe and GReddy come in almost the same size box, but the GReddy box is 3" taller. Sadly, this puts it into OS3 shipping rates, which basically means it's WAY oversize instead of just a little oversize. Because of this, the Tanabe ships for about $20-30, and the GReddy goes for $60-80. Narrows the price gap somewhat. When we unpack the GReddy we're going to see if we can figure out a way to ship it in a slightly smaller box, and if we can will repack them both into something that keeps the shipping down to the OS2 level, or the same price as the Tanabe. Anyway, not sure if anyone cared about that, but if you were looking at both on our site and checked shipping rates and wondered why the huge disparity, well, now you know .

I've been checking out the Tanabe much more as of late. Are the mufflers perforated or chambered, and what is the diameter of the piping?

thanks for any info.

Diameter of the rear muffler tips are 3 1/4...

Don't know about the perforated or chambered muffler parts do.

I believe the mufflers are chambered on the SMH systems. Need to verify that, but I'm pretty sure that's how they keep them fairly quiet. Pipe diameter is 70mm (~2.75") and splits into two 60mm (~2.4") pipes before the mufflers.

You work for Verlinden? That'd be a sweet job.

Oh, and the exhaust is cool too.
