Thank You Borla

Thank You Borla
I bought a Borla exhaust right when they came out for the 8. I noticed that the heat shield hit the exhaust, but just used a little safety wire to move the shield up and thought that would take care of the problem.
Alas, I still got a little rattle at very low RPMs, usually just when the car was at idle. So I finally stopped being lazy and called Borla to see what was up. Turns out that the early exhausts had hangers that placed the exhaust against the heat shield. So they offered to send me out a new exhaust. Great, I thought. Then I was really blown away. They asked me if it was my daily drive, which it is. So they agreed to send it out without the old one back. All they asked was that I send the old one back within 30 days.
Great service Borla. Thanks!

I also got my replaced under warranty along with a handful of others. Contact Harley at Borla, he deals with warranty exchanges.
Here's the earlier thread. It shows pics of the new design.
You will need your receipt or contact info of where you bought it. Another thing, shipping was $125 back to them since I'm in TX so expect to pay something.
The tips won't melt the MS bumper .

Yes, the shipping is going to be a bummer.
I haven't had any trouble with the tips melting the exhaust shrouds at all. One problem I do have now is that the new tip (left side) sits further out than the old one (right side). It seems that the new design has messed up the alignment for me a little. Anyone else had this issue?

I did a write up on the wire thingy.. didn't help me either in the long run.. but all I did was let the exhaust heat up nice and good, then loosen the clamps and re-tighten.. the rattles went away and never came back in nearly 2 years. I do have permanent scars from this procedure tho :o

I had my left tip sit out a lil further than the right side at one point as well. We (a Mazda Mechanic friend of mine, which is nice to have, and I) lifted up the car, and he just hit the two sections together with a rubber mallet a few times and fixed it perfectly. It should be pretty obvious, I hope. Of course check to make sure all the rubber mounting bracket peices are sitting all the way on before doing anything else.
I hope this all made sense, I am writting this just before going to bed.

Mine have decreased over the last two months. Still happens a little after a spirited rev, but not as much as when it was first installed. I had the N flash performed just after install too, so that might be a reason for the decrease...had not really thought about it though.
