torque boost

I've been wanting to get an RX-8 for a while and I will be getting a new car soon, however the low torque is giving me second thoughts. Is there cost effective way to boost the torque up to around the same level as HP?

turbo is the best way to boost torque.

yea but how expensive would that be? do you have a good site for RX-8 mods cuz everywhere I've looked it's all crap.

unfortunately, from what i've read on this forum, there are no inexpensive mods to significantly boost the hp or torque in the rx-8... period.

most of the mods yield only very slight gains in hp or torque, and some actually give more hp at the expense of torque and worse mpg. a turbo would help, but if u go with a cheap bolt-on turbo (like the greddy), the chances of u blowing your engine after 15-30k miles, again based on what i've read on this forum, is relatively high. (a lot of ppl have had issues.) so, the $4k or $5k u thought u were saving is really just postponed until u have to get a new engine. so, u might's well go all-out and get the good turbo for $10k and have it professionally installed and tuned.

if none of this satisfies u, then seriously, the rx-8 is not the car for u.

thanks, what about superchargers? I'm willing to spend about 5-6k not including installation and tuning so yea i guess a turbo is no good.

Do a search.. or even look at the stickies. There are tons and tons of threads on the Greddy Turbo Kit. Some people love it, some people hate it. I personally am not FI yet, but I'm most likely going to go with the Greddy kit, seeing that I don't have a good tuner (that I know of) in my area.

Nitrous if you only need the tq occasionally. I had some pretty poor experiences with the Greddy Turbo. But if you do it, don't just lok at the price of the kit. Anticipate about $6K when all is said & done (installation & tuning, BOV, gauges, etc.)
