transmission gear questions

I was wondering if any one knows who can make any dog gear set for the rx8 transmission, like a replacment. Already have done searches couldn't find much. The gears are grinding bad from 1st 2nd and 3rd. I don't mind insting the gears my self I just need something ithat can last.

do you have the short shifter and what kind of oil are you running?
The reason i ask is that I was ready to buy a new trans (4th gear grind) at 61K) BUT, i was still running the old yellow **** on the ss and i was running mobil 1 oil.
well i placed the oem shifter back in while i updated the ss to the new **** and i put regular gl3-gl4 coastal state cheap *** trans oil from advance auto into the trans with 5 ozs MMO (nothing to lose right?). Guess what---trans is as smooth as butter and no grinding at all---none.

Nope I don't have an ss line or a short shifter. Sometimes. I'm not able to even shift into 2nd unles I go around 12mph. So I'm like I don't know now just needs some **** that not hella I'm so tempted to get a rx7 transmission and and dog gears to it but I like to know is there any way to beef up the current rx8 transmission

A "dog box" isn't going to shift as well as a stock tranny..they are straight cut gears....really strong...but they shift poorly without a lot of help

Try changing out your fluid....and see what happens......otherwise you can pick up a used tranny cheap if you are out of warranty

How much free-play do you have at your pedal pad?
