Transmission Options for S1
Yeah we've got the OEM 5 speed and 6 speed to choose from, but I'm curious if there are any other bolt in swaps--the RX8 6 speed is part of the AZ6 family, which shares parts between a variety of other cars like the MX-5, S15, IS200 and Toyota 86/BRZ.
A mate of mine mentioned he was looking at getting a Nismo box for his S15, and I fell in love with the ratios after charting them up. I'm curious if it would swap in relatively painlessly, by retaining the RX-8 bellhousing.
Even something like having gearsets from other cars available to swap in would be awesome.
Anyone got any experience with other AZ6 transmissions that could shed some light?

and BMW DCT as well, though more complicate and expensive
the factory trans will never cut it, even the S2 is not much better, the Aisin didn’t do any better behind the Nissan engine
don’t waste your time on a gearset either, regrettably I tried to go down that road and say so with fair warning.
there is no cheap solution, the RX8 curse if you will. The advantage of the 370Z CD009 is the ratios are close to the S1, it can take 4x more torque like a champ, and often overlooked is that it’s designed for high rpm shifting.
