I was wondering the same, because it doesnt look like most other Renesis I have seen. What would be the better engine?
I noticed alternator being in different location, but saw the universal type turnbuckle positioning it...so possibly it was just rotated because of the turbo?

well if it was a 13b REW and the guy actually got it to run successfully in an RX8 (no mean feat) then you could be on to a winner .
The REW has been tuned to levels far above what anyone has achieved on a renesis . More likely he gave up trying to get it to run though.

Who said the search here is bad? Your car was the one mentioned in the above thread.
I found a link to other photos from one of Demon's posts.

just an fyi.
from reading demons thread, he mentioned the haltech having problems. I wonder if he was having trailing spark issues like I had on my T II.
as he mentioned, I too had to send out my haltech to aus for repair.
I would ditch the haltech boost controller. I never got that thing to work right. I was told by many experienced p.r. tuners the haltech is not reliable for boost control.
seems like you will have your hands full, but it will be fun! damn, I would love to get my hands dirty on your new lady.

I had many issues/ gremlins. lol
to make a long *** story short. I broke in (1k miles) my non boosted engine w/ the haltech along with 3 msd 6a ignition boxes under 4k rpms.
she ran fine w/ no hiccups. I then put the turbo in-line and street tuned it for a couple of days. (weather temps)
the bitch ran great! response was there, spark was great all through out the rev range, egt's solid.
well, after a week I had issues at start up. she would flood like no tomorrow. I checked my maps, made some adjustments and still ran like ****.
I re-checked my msd boxes and found out I blew one of my trailing one's.
I replaced it with a used one that I had laying around in the garage that I verified to be good.
same ****. I decided to remove both my trailing boxes and run just the stock coil.
she ran like **** still.
I then placed a call to p.r. (a good friend of the family). after a few hours on the phone discussing what may be the problem he told me just to send it to em'.
during that week when I sent it to him, I got a call stating that the haltech was not (triggering) my trailing spark.
he then sent it out to haltech and had them repair it. If I remember correctly it cost just over $200 with shipping.
in the meantime, my buddy set me up with a map that only ran the car with leading spark only.
she was running great once again on just the 2 leading plugs w/one msd box pushing 13 pounds on a garret t04e 57 trim!
to end the story, haltech, msd products left a bad taste in my mouth for a while.
I then moved on to a microtech lt12 after the haltech gremlins.
if you do decide to keep the current standalone, good luck...
I would start out fresh w/ a out of box brand spanking new flying lead harness
and go from there.

I bought, what I thought was a good deal on a used haltech to put other monies on fuel system. as you have read it really bit my ***.
the choice is yours outkast. either send out the haltech to aus and have it scoped to see if it's 100%? cost is just over $200 shipped. don't quote me on it.

get a new flying lead wiring harness for your e6x. you will probably need new sensors to go along with it. who knows......
or go brand new with an autronic, microtech, blah blah blah.
are you going to be tuning on your own? if not like everyone sez, go with what your tuner is best at.

No one around here knows anything, so I will be tuning myself or trying to find a similar set up and getting some pointers to start out with. Is yours running good now?

Where are you located? Best advice would be to start NA and get used to playing with timing and split of the plugs before going to boost...you also could get a good, reliable basemap from several rotary vendors out there once you decide what engine management you want to use...but if you have, as stated, built several high hp piston engines your transition to this shouldn't be too difficult if you're patient and don't go on the principle of back off the boost/ignition once you get a ping...

If properly built and tuned you can go upwards of 20psi. But many other things on the 8 may not handle the power. If you want more info on the enigne you can search around on rx7club.com Much info there.

Transmission and fuel delivery i think, but with 20psi you'd be making so much power you would probably have to upgrade almost the enitre drivetrain. Look up what the 20b rx8 guys upgraded to handle the power and go from there. I'm sure that will be enough.
