Great choice I hope you got it under MSRP of $4195. The cheapest I've seen is at Hopupracing.com for $3565.00 shipped. If anyone knows a place with lower price let me know. I'm just lurking around for prices. With some tuning and playing with the boost and additional fuel you'll get amazing results.

exhaust

my car is black, with 19's which are black with a chrome lip, tinted jet black... looks like the bat mobile....haha...
im not sure about the oil pan, can you explain to me why it would be better?
the exhaust i have is the greddy duel exhaust.

also to another question, the shop i ordered my turbo from gave it to me for 3200... but, for all the stuff im putting on at once, only charged me 700 for labor.

Congrats...you lucky dog, lol.

Please make sure you take it to a dyno and track so we can all share in the improvement of the RX8!

Cool...OK, once you are ready take it to a track to get a 0-60 & 1/4 reading...I'm dying to see what another 65HP can do in the 8. My guess is that it SHOULD be faster than the 05 Mustang GT but I don't know if 65HP will take a sec off the RX8's times.

A conservative and a little disapointing (to me) estimate would be 13.8 1/4 (while Charles Hill without a Turbo and using a g-tech is getting 13.7's. But, based on just lbs per HP, it should match in the very least or beat the Mustang GT's 13.5 in the 1/4.

But I know, these are just thoughts....that's why I am dying to see what it can do with a Turbo.

what is a gtech?......... also i hate shitstangs... so no matter if it's faster or not, we still look better (even tho the 05 is the best body design yet)

It add's 65 horses you said? So that should make the car have around 300hp...in a car as light as ours that would be a great number to reach. I'd love to do this project on my car if it turns out to still be a reliable engine, I guess only time can tell something like that.

more than 300

the turbo adds 65 to the wheels, much more to just the engine. there is a ruff estimate of a 30% diff from engine than to the wheels, it should be ok for the engine, almost everythin im doing is Greddy 50state legal... and plan on buying stronger roaters, and apex seal.

Gtech measures things like 0-60 times and 1/4 mile by just hooking it up to the windshield of the car. I'm really nto sure how it works, but it seems to work fairly well.

Ahh well thats even better then.

You said you plan on buying stronger roaters and apex seals. You feel this is a must for anyone that decides to get the turbo? That might make or break my decision to get one if it turns out there are hidden fee's involved with things I would need to upgrade.

rotars and apex

no no, you don't need that at all with the greddy, or possibly others. greddy is manufactored specifically for the car. that stuff is not needed at all, it's just to the disgression of the driver. that stuff is just things i want to be done in the future.... i was told that it would make the actuall engine much much stronger, and it's not to expensive, but the labor costs will bite you in the ***... the got to disassemble everything... i def would suggest a clutch and flywheel set, i ordered the best one they had on srmotorsports web page... and i recently saw a turbo kit online for a little under 3100..
do u know where to get a gtech

Gtechpro.com

I had one about 4 years ago, and I thought it worked pretty well. Worth the $100 or so dollars it costs if you want a semi-accurate (but not perfect) reading of your times.

The greddy oil pan eliminates you having to use the supplied barrel connector with the kit to use the stock oil pan for the oil return line. Just a prettier setup and actually better in my opinion than using a "band-aid" application..i think it actually adds a little more capacity also, .5qt i think..

Yea I would suggesting getting an A/F meter. GTECH is a portable 1/4mile and 0-60 tester which is accurate but not precise. But it doesn't really matter, the dyno sheet will determine your real performance.

I think the 2005 Mustang is beautiful, I admire all well designed (visual designs) cars.

Your baseline turbo should yield you 85HP to the crank = 68 RWHP, so you'll have a 323HP car.

Anyways the price you got is awesome, I ponder to think if an auto RX8 is even worth turboing... ummm NO haha.

ARMY_RX8 thanks for the link... that is by far the lowest pricing... now I have to search to see if anyone installed the turbo for the auto. I have a feeling the tranny won't hold up.
