Turbo or supercharger--need help please
Hey I just got my rx-8 and wanted to ask you guys your opinion on which would be easier on my engine, going turbo or supercharger. I am not concerned with making major power just want a little extra oomph. Preferably something easy to maintain too. i want my car to last for a while and just want to put a little power into the car. I figure as long as it looks fast it may as well have a little something under the hood. I have a 2005 automatic rx-8. Let me know what ya think. Thanks

it does not matter which you choose in that respect - it's more about how much boost you run and how good your tune is ....

hey Shemansky- I belive the Pettit Supercharger will suit you the best for Daily driving. And it also improves MPG. ohh and by the way check out the chicago fourms.

Doesn't matter anymore guys....grrr backed out of buying my car today...Went to pick it up today and the dealer tells me the car flooded. I proceed to get on here and look around for car flooding problems and realize it is a major issue. I backed out of buying the car because I need a daily driver...grrrrrrrrrrrr

I don't see how it isn't an issue, when multiple people have had their cars towed to the dealers over it and it just happened to this car with only 28000 miles on it the day i was supposed to buy it. It's a big enough issue to make me not buy the car

If you have a new starter, a strong battery and 10 minutes of your life then it is not an issue.
There's an official procedure and at least other two alternatives to deflood our car.
The only time i flooded it was the dealership's fault, it never happened again.

72K and NEVER flooded. Car has been exposed to temps as cold as -20 and temps as hot as 120. Ive literally, started my car and immediately put it into reverse and killed it while the idle was still at 2K plus and IT DID NOT FLOOD.

They probably moved it and shut it off without letting it warm up. All you have to do to prevent flooding is not shut the car off until the engine has warmed up some. A rotary is different from a modern piston engine in that regard.
1. Don't shut it off until it has warmed up.
2. Don't drive it hard until the temp needle is sitting at its normal warmed-up level for at least 10 minutes (coolant temps are normal at that point, but it takes longer for the oil to warm up).
3. Once it is warmed up, redline it using full throttle at least once a day.
4. Your gas mileage will suck.
5. Make sure you check the oil fairly frequently, as the rotary is designed to burn oil. I check mine every 1000 miles and top it off to full.
