I like my TurboXS exhaust. I'm running the midpipe. I had to mod out the tips, cutting them out and installing a pair of Magnaflow 3-1/2" double wall tips. sounds awesome too.

My own custom single exit 3" Magnaflow w/ Borla tip exhaust was simply too loud for the street. It sounds incredible at the track, yet around town, it did rasp and drone.
The interesting thing however, is that the TurboXS sounds exactly like the custom Magnaflow in tone. It's slightly quieter and drones a bit less and doesn't rasp, so it suits my streetability needs. It is, however, still pretty loud in general- even with the stock cat pipe in place.
I really like the sound of the TurboXS. The similarity in tone to my custom exhaust leads me to guess that the TurboXS mufflers may indeed be Magnaflow. They do use Magnaflow on their WRX/STi catbacks- so my guess may be correct.
Compared to my single 3" exhaust. The TurboXS did gain in midrange throttle feel.
Up top, it's a wash.
No leaks. Gaskets work great (there's a 2.5":3" donut gasket for the stock midpipe and a 3":3" donut gasket for the race pipe). It's a matter of positioning everything properly before tightening everything down to get good seals in place -especially for the crush gasket in the catback unit.

For sound clips see post 132 and 167. This is a picture of what happens to the exhaust shroud if you do not extend the supplied tips, http://i510.photobucket.com/albums/s...rntShrouds.jpg
Picture shows burnt shrouds caused by original TurboXS tips, and new longer tips which should give no more issues.
Mine melted but only after a day at the track.

I'm running the TurboXS catback and race pipe. I tried the catback first. The tips are bigger than stock of course but it's a 3-inch exhaust, so.......
The tips are way closer together than they should be and they don't stick out far enough. Another thing I noticed is that both tips initially were off to one side. I was able to bend the tips wider apart and get them centered by bending them with a pair of breaker bars. I think if I get time and find some tips I like that I might cut off the tips and weld slightly, bigger ones on. It shouldn't weigh significantly more. I really liked the low sound of it even though I don't think it sounds exactly like on youtube.
Later, I installed TurboXS's race pipe. The exhaust now sounds nothing like it did before with just the catback. It is very loud and might not be for everyone. I definetly felt the power increase with the midpipe. More so than when I just installed the catback. Exhaust is supposed to give you more speed but I find myself driving slower now. I have to mostly take it easy now in residential areas because I don't want a loud exhaust ticket. On wide open roads and highways it's a different story though.
Overall, I'm very happy with my setup and I'd buy it again. I installed it all no problem myself. I'd definetly reccomend to anyone buying their first exhaust. If you have the slightest knowledge about cars, then it's easy enough to do it yourself.

Has anyone had problems with the melted bumper after extending the tips? I like the sound of the exhaust, but im thinking I'll have to extend the tips to save my bumper.
Also, does anyone know how much the exhaust weighs in comparison to the stock one?

I have a mint blue bodykit, and the shrounds didn't melt or anything.....it's totally fine :D
btw, this exhaust is wicked sick, insanely sick, I've had the Greddy SP2, the Espelir and the turbo-xs this one is the loudest of the 3, but all I can say is, it drives you insane.........like literally, it gives your rx8 that super-car feel, like, "I can kill you" type of feel, and it's insane to WOT now, and insanity comes with a price

Hey guys, I have a question. I have a Turbo XS exhaust and racepipe. it's really loud, So i'm going to need to find a way to silence it. I was looking at
Apexi Exhaust control valve here:
http://www.coximport.com/APE-155-A023
Problem is, I need to know how big the flange is between the race pipe and exhaust. Is it an 80mm or 67mm?
Would the Tips be the same size?
Thanks a bunch..

I just put mine on a week or so ago. Im running a cat, and it sounds pretty good, but without the silencers it gets really loud and droney down low in the rpms. Other than that, i like it. No melted shrouds... yet

67mm~2in
turboxs is 3in all the way so the 80mm is the way to go......make sure you make a comparison for everyone to hear...

^^^^ 0.o anyway why are the race pipes on back order for so long?...im thinking of getting once since the store is next to me but yea.. and also ... AS for the melting shrouds i seen many WRXs/STI done it ... Above the exhaust tips... can you like put a metal plating so that the heat can just roll off the metal plating.. there not exhaust finishers but yea...i know it was put there to protect the bumper from melting..eh w/e...
