I suppose the melting issue will depend on the quality of the aftermarket rear you have. I had my turbo xs (full race system) on for about 7k miles, and never had any problems with melting. This includes both turbo and Na use.

Obviously nobody with a MS rear bumper and TurboXS exhaust. I did find this thread LINK; https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...3&page=2&pp=15 which shows a MS v2 exhaust system and the stock rear bumper. By comparing these photos to my TurboXS and stock rear bumper it is interestng to see the big difference between the total lenght of the tips. I feel this comparision shows that the TurboXS tips can be extended about 3inches without protruding beyond the stock bumper. So with that nugget of information one can assume that it should be safe to extend the TurboXS tips by that amount with the MS rear bumper??

Or someone can use the search button and find the pics themselves since they have been posted 20 times already....

Why did you not get a loaner? They are forced to give you one by mazda.

I will wait for the pics, you must not have installed it correct.

You want to do me a favor? Can you post a pic of your exhaust tip and a ruler to show how far away it is from the stock rear. From what i remember the MS Rear only sits about .25" - .5" further back than stock.

From O'Renesis pic... it looks like its a full 4" from where it needs to be.

Bindon, if you could send me what you got.. that would be great.

Attached is how my greddy sits with the MS Rear. In my opinion it is perfect, and i'm hoping i can get the turboxs to fit similarly. As you can see... the greddy is completely flush with that top corner peice, marked in red.

silence mark!!!

for the bling factor im upset i'm parting ways with the greddy exhaust. It looked perfect. 4" tip, perfect placement... etc
but i need the full 3" the turboxs exhaust provides.

while im at it.. might as well get this to look as purdy as possible.

hey, did you ever order the fabulous kit? that would be hot!!

Hmmm would there be much loss of doing 3 inch back to the Greddy where it splits?

its not where it splits on the greddy that i had a problem with. If you measure the pipe that connects the cat to the y-pipe/canister/tip portion... you'll see its tiny. Its actually narrower than stock.

This might be good for someone who is NA, but for a turbo setup its no bueno.

I dropped it off this morning but told the welder to hold off on cutting my extension peice until i give him final specs. So... go ahead and still post up the ruler pic. It would be much appreciated

That makes sense. Then a person could put a larger flange and short pipe to the Y since it is dual there is not a huge restriction after that correct?

On a side note I have the OBX header and a 3" custom test pipe installed. Haven't had a cell and I have driven 300 miles so far. Drove it easy for the first 100 miles. Then pushed it a handful of times.

When my Uncle was riding with I wasn't able to put it into second (no grinding, I was patient) but I blipped the accelerator up close to 9k he got scared at first. He said he would be in trouble with his Z06 if he did that. I reassured him that I couldn't lose a cylinder due to floating valves... Cuz I already lost them with the rotary. I wouldn't be surprised if one day he has me stop by to check out his new 8. He has told me when he sees the 8 he likes it more and more.

Bump. Maybe you should start a new thread, Jermaine.

Also, is anyone else intrested in the turbo manifold idea I had. I think it would allow people to expirement with the rx8 more. Instead of a "kit" people can do mild to wild turbo set-ups. I know that when the time came for me to turbo my car, I would jump on this.
