I removed mine for now and put back the stocker. I got a flashing cell for about 30 seconds (probably a misfire) after i held it where it seemed like it was sputtering. The cel did not stay lit though, it just went away after 30 seconds.

ok konig.... umnitza told me that once the problem is solved, the "upgrades" will be free. if the issue is not resolved, then we will be given a FULL refund.

I'm pretty sure you can edit the thread title by editing your first post in the thread.

ok... i picked my car up today from mazda and they said that the intake hose, coming from the engine side, had a pool of oil in there. they cleaned it all out and put the stock airbox on and a new maf sensor, and said that it ran awesome. it does. no more sketchy rpm drops, no sputtering, it runs perfect.

so konig, if you have not done so, check to see if there is any standing oil in your hose. that is what was causing the maf to screw up.

My car runs perfect with the stock intake on. No problems at all.

The problem comes when I put on the simota intake.

mine had fewer problems with the stocker on... but it runs great now, so the next step is to see what umnitza is going to do.

simota requested that umnitza "hang on" to the other 15 units they have, until this is worked out.

simota also said, keep in mind they are in japan, that they have trouble getting ahold of an 8?! i just thought that was funny.

1st. how long have you had yours?
2nd. i addressed earlier... they THINK that the intake is causing some sort of vacuum, pulling oil, not air, backwards. i had oil collected in a pool in my intake hose... it doesn't do that with the stocker so..... ur guess is as good as mine... this is an assumption that my mazda dealer came up with.

i would like to say one more thing on this... for anyone reading this....... this is not an UMNITZA problem, it is a SIMOTA problem. my contact at umnitza has been nothing but helpful and patient with myself and simota. from what i have seen, umnitza's customer service is top notch! the problems stemming from the intake are not umnitza's fault, they just sell them, not make them...

i just wanted to clear the air here...

Update!!

ok... umnitza just recieved the new batch of CF intakes. these are fixed. the problem was caused by the way the intake was feeding the air in to the engine.

they will be ready this Friday, March 17.

they had said before to myself and konig, that the fixes would be free or a refund. i went ahead and sent mine back and got the refund. i now have another one coming.

these things are like $300! i got a news letter from them today saying that they will be selling them briefly for $180 +shipping.

i am not a vendor, just passing on this information if anyone is interested.

ps... this price will only last for 2 weeks!!

I still have mine here...haven't sent it back. I guess nows the time to decide if I still want an intake or just a straight refund.

Hmm...

didn't you already have one? the reason that i sent mine back was because it was defective.

konig had the same issues.

Hmm...
honestly.... i figure, now i know that they will stand behind it, so i'm just going to order one for that price. if it screws up again, then i am done with simota. supposedly the new ones are fixed though.

ps.... if you decide to send yours back, contact them first and they will pay shipping on their account.

damnit...... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
