Undisputed performance improvements

I agree about tuning, but 1) if the pressure is too high for what it can take (which is undetermined at this point, AFAIK), you break it and 2) if you don't know what you are doing, its hard to tune something (instrument, car, whatever). I hope that 1) dude doesn't try to put too much pressure in the first time and 2) he researches alot.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the responses. I am definitely going to try the Canzoomer first and maybe the highflow cat/midpipe. Thanks to all the admiins, moderators and high # posters for sharing their experiences.

Regarding the sluggish clutch behavior, Rotary Performance here in Texas offers a steel braided clutch cable. http://www.rx7.com/store/rx8/rx8drivetrain_clutch.html . My RX8 is only a week old, so I'm still researching.

Pressure is a big part of engine dynamics, but remember the other variables, like temperature, and volume. For example, port an engine too large, and your chamber pressure will drop, assuming constant temperature. It's simple thermodynamics, but it gets much harder than that, especially when you're working with a hybrid cycle (turbocharger + Otto cycle). Like I said, it's all about planning, and research. I'm glad we have a forum like this where people can share their ideas.
Also, I'm looking into a stronger clutch cable. From what I know, you'll get a better feel.

I'm not downing anyone for trying anything with their cars. I certainly think that enough research will put anyone in a position to try their hands on an actual experiment.
And I'm not downing custom turbos. I just think that if you don't do the work yourself it's going to cost more than SRs.
Which leads me to the point: TitaniumGray is 18 and jumping all over a couple pretty big mods. Some of which (like his lambo doors) didn't quite turn out. At least not yet, anyway. He then states that he is going to let (if I remember correctly) a friend of his cousin that just graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering make a turbo for his ride. I was just saying that I wouldn't let a friend make a turbo for my car unless he had some experience. Just a simple warning, 'cause I'd hate to see him on the forums saying how his botched turbo project blew his engine and now he has to ride a bike until he can afford another one (since he also voided the warranty).
Just a warning. Not saying it can't be done. But people working for free or cheap don't always do the best job, and people tend to not care about something that isn't theirs quite as much. But I also have trust issues

lite weight flywheel
anyone try the ACT Prolite flywheel yet? i was wondering how hard it was in stop and go driving in the city? i woudl love to get this, but want to knwo all the angles first. i hear this is a great thing for you to do well besides a turbo...but that'll be a while
oh yea:
it says it weights less than 10 lbs.....without the counterweight of coarse..the flywheel by sr motorsports is rated at 9.5lbs i imagine the act is similar to this.

The only thing I would like to add to this thread is that the 55 h.p. shot of nitrous is NOT in the mere "development stage" as Omi mentioned. I have successfully been using the Zex system for a few weeks now and the engine runs great. I had some early problems with detonation, which were all my fault, but once I used good gas(without methanol) all went well. I have attempted the 75 h.p. shot but had a bunch of detonation that I could not control. Even so, the engine was still making a ton of power. In summary, the 55 is working beautifully and there are some of us "gearing up" for a higher level of boost. With a CZ or E-Manage I whole-heartedly believe the 75 will work as smoothly as the 55 with 100 h.p., or more, a possibility. If anybody would like to run nitrous, feel free to do a search and/or p.m. me for the whole story.

p.s. I have also installed most of the mods mentioned in this thread and would be happy to share that info, as well. Sorry if it seems I have highjacked this thread as that was not my intention.
