WARNING - UK/Euro cars + Dastek UK Unichip disastrous!

Don't buy one...when and IF it comes out. Dastek and their front man A K from the UK (kind of catchy, isn't it?) are developing a piggyback ecu BUT GET THIS-----they CAN'T even fit it into their test vehicle!!! Something is SERIOUSLY WRONG, they concede.

http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum...pic.php?t=3292

Too much security around the ECU, they admit. Their Dastek UK Unichip UNABLE TO gain access OR override the ecu, so the product can NOT even be further tested. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING turn of events for the Dastek UK Unichip.

Sorry peeps.

Hi folks,

I am the A K referred to above, and I thought I'd step in and offer some rumour control here.

This is, at most, a minor setback, and applies only to UK vehicles.

Work continues uninterrupted on the final development work for all other countries, and we forsee no problems on delivering this product on time in the US and all other countries outside the UK.

As an owner myself, you can be sure that this UK issue will be recieving our utmost attention. WHEN our unit comes out you can rest assured it will be fully functional and of the highest quality and performance possible.

My intention on posting the information where I did and not here was that this was a UK issue which affected potential UK customers of any unit designed to plug into the ECU itself, be it canzoomer's mod, our UNICHIP or anybody else's. I'm sure with the demand at the level it is, nobody in this business needs to be shipping out extra units which will only lead to dis-satisfied customers.

Neither is it my intention to hijack your forum area Maurice, so I'll leave it there for now, and I'm sure that you'll see the public interest intentions of my UK posting.

I, and I'm sure canzoomer, would appreciate it if any future questions regarding this were posted on the UK Owners Club forum, which I check regularly, or you can e-mail me direct at alex@dastek.co.uk. Those in the US should monitor www.unichip.us for details.

Dick,

You have obviously learned your lesson. Regardless of intent, stupid people who do stupid things are still to be held accountable.

Think harder next time BEFORE you do something stupid like this again.

A K's post above is much better. The focus all along in his thread TITLE (on the other website) and Dick's thread title SHOULD HAVE focused on the ecu housing lock device, NOT on Canzoomer's unit.

This is begining to look like homeowner associations, you know where your supposed to actually own the home but have to get permission to move a shrub in your back yard, and if you do without consent they send the association ***** after you. That ECU case is assanine! What if you get your finger stuck in there, then what are you supposed to do, huh! I'm yes Mr. fireman, I got my little finger stuck in the inpenetrable ECU case while cleaning my engine. Can you send someone right over with the jaws of life?
