Here's the latest chart including aftermarket parts with their weights....those are in red. Stock values are in black.

Thanks to those who are contributing data for this!

Every once in awhile, I'm going to update my post further back with the info in the PDF, because this PDF won't be searchable via the forum search, which is something I was hoping would be possible for this.

And we may eventually want to change the title of the thread to "Weight Reduction: Stock Parts Weight" or something similar. Apparently, we are gathering stock weights, not so much gathering weight savings of aftermarket parts. Which, at some point, we may want to create a thread on that.

I can save it as an html file, but I can't figure out how to post it so it's viewable (other than as source text). Is there a way to upload an html file?

ive seen stock weights posted in other threads, but this one seems to be the most organized so I'll post my info here.... volk ce28n 8.5 x 18 front wheel.....13lbs.... 18 x 9.5 rear wheels 13.5lbs...weighed on a digital scale......racingbrake calipers....6lbs...racingbrake front rotors...14.5lbs...racingbrake rear rotors....9lbs..........so in summary unsprung wieght from the front of the car mostly rotational ......about 36lbs give or take .5 of a lb., .....from the rear....about 23lbs.......do I notice a difference........heck yes I do ...

Those of you that have saved weight on wheels, brake rotors, etc. - when you say you notice a difference, is this in handling or in acceleration? Or both?

Thanks!

Greatest difference for me is handling. It seems like it take no effort at all for the car to do what I want. enkei RP1-fs alone made me extremely competitive in autox.

But there is a change in acceleration, and its noticible.

I would say go for the wheels & brakes, before you go flywheel.

I saved 3.4 lbs by removing the air pump . Takes about 5 mins or less so would be good to remove it for a track day .
You will get a cel eventually though so probably best to put back on for the street.

my old rims were 26 lbs each. New ones are 17.8 lbs each. Can't say that I notice an increase in speed, but it feels more nimble on turns.

I also don't think lightweight lugs will help enough to matter. They're close to the center of the wheel.

not in an RX-8 offset/pattern anyways, that's why those wheel weight sites are pointlessly useless ...

what about coilovers are they sprung or unsprung weight?

changing to a set of coilovers from stock would save u about 8 kg at least.

my impressions after changing, the car is awhole lot more responsive and acceleration has improved drasticly also, could be due to the hardness setting, or weight reduction, im not sure.

you might want to read the link posted recently that contains the weight of most things including the exhaust.
