I saw this flywheel in canzoomer's place and i think Fidenza makes very good job in the flywheel place..
Does any1 have any info on that or photos etc??
I also read that it needs mazda counterweight?I didn't understand that...Does it need to purchase mazda counterweight or mazdaspeed??

Fidanza has a pretty good reputation for aluminum flywheels. You would need to purchase the counterweight from mazda to complete the kit. Fidanza does not sell a counterweight with the kit.

i currently have the FIDANZA flywheel installed in my rx8. I purchased it through Titan motorsports it cost me $270.00. You do need the counterweight through mazda, it is the counter weight that was used on the automatic FD RX7's, and that cost $110.00. Now when you order the flywheel it does not come with the 6 bolts needed to mount the flywheel. I ordered the bolts through SR motorsports for $15.00. I spent a total of about $400.00 on everything and had a local shop that has rotary knowledge install it. The flywheel with the counter weight and bolts weighs a grand total of 13 pounds.
I have always gone through FIDANZA for my flywheels because they have a very good reputation on that market. Never had one problem. And the light weight flywheel brings out an exotic feel in the RX-8 like you would not believe. You will loose a little low end tourqe, but trust me it makes up for it through the power band. the gear shifts are more precise and your engine reaches its redline far more quickly than with the stock flywheel. the heavier flywheel makes your car idle a little bit smoother, you will notice a slight fluxuation with the light weight one, But it is far worth the performance. Trust me.

How did Titan let you have an aftermarket flywheel for $270?

I'll admit Fidanza makes pretty damn good flywheels, especially for the Ford Focus. As for the RX-8, and other rotary cars, I don't know. Care to do a technical report scoutmaster03?

Is this how you managed to do this:

the lightweight flywheel did not effect anything that i can notice execpt just a light shift of low end torque. it is very easy to drive and was well worth the upgrade. Titan motor sports sold me the flywheel the day before hurricane charlie ripped through florida, when i ordered it they were boarding up their shop. they just gave me a discount because i was the last order they had put in before they closed up shop due to the hurricane. the flywheel is a beautiful and very well made piece of equipment, and FIDANZA has alway been the best for me. You can feel the difference the moment you sit in your car. Just reving your motor up next to a stock RX-8 and you can plainly hear and feel the difference. The RPMs climb quickly into your powerband, you will be shifting before you know it. And if you go to a track you will notice your trap speed times will be faster than if you had the stock flywheel. My trap speed times in the 1/4 mile used to be around 94 mph, and after the clutch and flywheel install im reaching 98- 104 depending on the shift pattern i am using. After you get the flywheel installed you will have to get the feel for the first gear shift, it is slightly diffrent but i got used to after about ten miles. all of the other gear shifts seem so much more easier to shift, it is so precise, and the throttle response was greatly improved.
i hope this helps anyone , if there is anymore questions let me know and i will be happy to respond.

I got that 1/4 mile time. And im proud of it. I cant post the damn time slip due to the lack of something called a "scanner", and no my digital camera cant focus enough to read the print. but as soon as i can get to one of my friends computers that has a "scanner" I will gladly post it. Yes I have made some adjustments to my car, and yes it has been ran on a dyno multiple times. But when you run at the track the first 60 ft is the most important part. Just keep that intake cool for that first initial run, the whole intake. I have built my throttle body to cool down to ice cold temps when i want it to and i have deverted the heat from the exhaust manifold away from the engine and intake. Plus i have a cooling sytem that i am toying with that uses the washer fluid tank and a system of hoses that can cool down my entire intake manifold. and the best part about it is i can cool it down to about 40 deg. when i want it. Because once that heat builds up on that intake you can just watch you 1/4 mile times get slower and slower. I use some fuel additives and i have done alot of work with the flywheel and clutch, really good tires that dont spin very easily, catless midpipe, racing beat exhaust, my own intake system using the stock airbox assembly "i am getting more of a ram air effect now, and some tweaking of the MAF sensor. And other little things here and there.

what digital camera can't focus? Post your BLURRY picture - i don't care. I can't even keep track of all the people that claim times like these, but then can't seem to get their timeslip online due to "lack of scanner" or "digital camera not working".

Cmon, dude.

Saw your engine bay picture. Can you elaborate how your cooling system works?

A flywheel is a flywheel. You guys can get the ACT flywheel for $250 and save a few bucks.

Don't use the FD automatic rear counterweight. It is not balanced properly for the RX8 at all. Actually the RX8 rear automatic counterweight is the closest but is not balanced right for the manual shift engine either when it comes down to it. The difference is that the automatic RX8 engines use a different front counterweight than the manual engines, but the difference is only enough to bug me, and apparently not enough to hurt parts.

I have had the Fidinza Flywheel for 30K and doing fine. Best bang for the buck IMO MS one is over priced. Also ACT makes a good product.
