what to do next?

well, time to start another "what to do" thread...

current mods:

zex nitrous: 55 shot
RB intake
RB exhaust
RP supercat
RP shortshifter
RB swaybars
agency power pulley

I think that covers it...

So one thing I've really been considering is the accessPORT since it would be beneficial in a few ways (for regular driving, with nitrous, as well as the general info you can view such as CELs and other random data). I know I havn't done much in the way of suspension so I could consider coilovers or spring/shock combos. Also considering rims. Not too sure what all I would need to up the nitrous to 65 shot but not sure if I want to bother with that. As much as I'd like to just save up and go for FI (Really would like the greddy + MM upgrade, oh well) I don't think that's possible for now. I'll admit that right now I'm looking for more out of straightline though I know there's not a whole lot to be said without going FI.

Another thing I could go for would be the skip barber school (would LOVE to do the one at laguna...) but that might be a bit out of my price range.. I'll have to see. The only problem with that is I would only be able to do that and I kind of would like to do a bit of modding for my car (though if I could manage it, I think I might not mind )

So all that having been said... any ideas? My price range isn't exactly set in stone, but I'd say in the $3000-3300 range, give or take a bit. Thanks in advance (I realize I could just sit and weigh my options by finding every combination of possibilities but I find it much easier to settle on something with more opinions).

I would get a good set of coil overs for around $1K. Then buy a nice set of wheels for under $2K. And you would be set.

Watch the forum for a used greddy kit. You can buy them anywhere from $300 up to $2000 (You won't care if the kit includes fuel management or even a working turbo). The MM turbo upgrade is another $1900 or so. And the AP is $700.

So wait a month or two, save up the extra dollars, and do it right. You might be able to do it all within that budget too, if you stumble on a good deal.

I'd recommend the Skip Barber School option. It will work on every car you will ever own for ever (even Toyota Yaris rentals).

After that, go for the AccessPORT (if for no other reason than engine protection - lower fan turn-on temp & higher flow from the Oil Metering Pump). Then suspension, then turbo.

thanks for tips so far... I'm pretty decided on the AP I think. It seems no matter which direction I go, it will be useful. I can save up a bit more maybe. This is basically going to be my 21st b-day/christmas combo (either this or vegas... this way I have a better chance of actually having money to spend). I was originally looking into getting a 7, but I figured I'll try to stick to this money pit for now. The 7 I was looking at was $3300 so that's where I'm getting my estimated budget from. I'm thinking I'll order the AP soon and then wait to figure out what else to get.

Any other ideas? (with or without the AP, still considering a lot of things)

driving lessons will be the best investment you can make (unless you are uber in which case I apologise) Not only is it money well spent, in terms of safety and overall enhancement of your driving, but it should be an absolute blast as well.

Thinking of getting some rims... volks to be more specific. I'll loose 5 pounds per rim as well as the looks. Get the best of both worlds (performance and appearance). Should be able to manage the rims + AP. Couple questions... my tires are relatively new... so if I were to get 18x8.5, would they have that stretched look? Also, any recommendations for a good place to buy them? Vivid has them but I remember hearing a bad experience from them, so any comment that contradicts that or another place with good pricing/service would be appreciated. Exactly how long should I realistically expect to wait for them? I know some people wait a few months but is that typical?

Not 100% decided, so other options are still appreciated. I know some of these questions can be answered by searching, so I'm going to work on that... Another question I had was on the whole staggered debate but I know there was a thread about that (dont remember what was finally concluded, but I'm going to check that).

Get a set of RB springs. They go with the stock shock. a little bit stiffer on the road, but not much & really helps the handling. With the sway bars really makes a good street/track car. If you want to get something a bit more oriented for the track, then you might want to look at the Mazdaspeed setup, but with that one you have to get the MS shocks to go with the MS Springs.
