Unhappy what Exhaust

I am looking to buy a custom exhaust kit for my rx-8. I basically dont care about preformace upgrading, more about sound. However I dont want it to actually make the rx-8 loose hp like I herd can happen. Anyway I am looking for a rather loud and throughty system. I was thinking of the Greddy but I herd it was too lout. I have herd sounds clips of many but the only greddy I've herd was from inside the car. Does anyone have a better greddy sound clip? Does anyone have a greddy exhaust? I would like to have a loud system that I can also drive on the parkway with ( so be it at a low rpm) and not go insane. Please help me choose the right system.

i have a similar problem... i wanted the greddy (coz it's good n cheap) but dont want people to make faces when i drive by. next is the borla but seems like everyone and their uncles have borlas on their eight. lastly it's RB...but i'm afraid there won't be an audible difference at all.

Let's talk this out

Borla is pretty loud. And if you want it louder put in a mid pipe.

Borla by itself was good, but when I put in the mid-pipe w/ resonator It's too loud for my tastes.

I recently herd a soundclip of the B&B exhaust on there website, and it sounded pretty good. However I am stll deep in dilema. HK.RX888, I feel the same way about the greddy, and I think the B&B may just be a tad less loud so we wont get looks when were driving. Also I dont really like the borla, everyone has it and I dont think its loud enough until its really reved.

i'm glad someone shares the same view. i've been searching the forum for some acutally useful comparative exhaust threads....and came up with these impressions....if i remember correctly (wish i had taken notes)

Greddy: some ppl dont like because the tips are too big/ sound is too loud. This is the cheapest one

B&B: ppl say it's one of the loudest ones...and also has a big tip.

Borla: everyone has this thing but there has been nothing but good reviews. and shoots 2' flames. the only flaw is that there's a weird bend in the exhaust.

HKS: no one seems to know much about this one

RB: They're the true rotary exhaust ppl. Is rather quiet at low rpms but has the true 'rotary' sound. It' sounds deep in when u rev it.

RX8Store: i forget...

well that's all i can remember right now...PLEASE PLEASE correct me if i'm wrong about any of these as these little notes about each exhaust could be very helpful to the potential exhaust buyer.

GReddy: the tips ARE huge. But some like that.

B&B: Who are they now? Tips are big, but nice. Sound is reportedly LOUD.

Borla: What weird bend? All 1 can JDM exhausts have that same bend in them. Ignore it. Million mile warranty. Reportedly low throaty sound. RB even says they're good.

HKS: Expensive, overweight. Sound is on the loud side reportedly. IF you want showy (for those who look under their cars) exhaust... these are good. Otherwise for the money, I'd get other JDM exhaust like FEED, AutoExe or Fujitsubo.

RB: Nice tips! Heard it was heavy, but compared to others... it's average. Overal nice system. Reportedly sound isn't much over stock, when revved it's a bit better, but still quiet.

RX-8 Store: Reportedly sounds a lot like Borla, but more raspy? Nice price.

Magnaflow: Awesome tips! These are RB are my favorite tips. Sound??? No one knows yet. Not on sale yet as far as I know. Check with Magnaflow...

If you don't want Borla or RB... I'd take a look at RX-8 Store or B&B or wait for Magnaflow. After that AutoExe and Fujitsubo. FEED is supposed to have a very rich rotary sound. Tips... AutoExe's are nicest between these three...but cans are a little heavy.

OK ive driven an RX8 with both the Borla and RacingBeat. The Borla is a bit louder and is very noticable when driving. The RacingBeat is noticable but not that much at idle or lower RPMs. The main thing I took into consideration when buying one is that if you plan to continue moding the car it basically only gets louder and louder. Thats why I started with a nice low deep cat back cause once that midpipe gets swapped out its going to gain a ton of dBs. Im more than happy with my RacingBeat and everyone that hears it loikes the tone of it. (About 20 RX8 owners heard it at our Orlando meet a month ago) No complaints with the RB and just remember, a loud system now might turn into unbearable down the road.

Thanks jap8!....ppl keep adding to the notes!

it seems like my mind is changing everyday....yesterday i was leaning on RB...and today i'm leaning on greddy. If the end of my mods was the intake and exhaust....would greddy still be too loud?

Nahh if you dont plan on doinf a mid-pipe or FI down the raod then any of the aftermarket exhausts I would say arent too loud but personal taste plays a HUGE part in it. I basically just didnt want to sound like a civic when I leave a light. Borla and RacingBeat have a different tone than most of the others. B&B also sounds a bit different.
