Other than that, I am going to go with any mod that improves reliability in this car. I nominate BHR for their ignition and midpipe. |
coilovers and 25mm spacers would be the first mods anyone with a stock 8 should buy period. car looks dumb in stock height and offset.
|
Depends on if you are looking for performance or looks; for performance, Short Shifter and/or Syncro-saver have been awesome mods to make it feel way snappier.
|
all my mods :lol::lol2:

Megan is what you buy, when you must have "racing" coilovers and can't afford anything good or don't know any better. It's really not all how you set it up. You can't turn junk into quality.
I'm only picking on you, because you made some good choices with the rest of your mods. IDK what happened with your suspension decision-making. Megan coilovers belong on ricer Civics that still suck. |
Take it easy on the fella. Honestly, the hp/tq numbers down to the .0001 RPM caught my eye more than his coilover setup

I'm only 6ft tall, but I can barely get helmet on for track work.
RX8 seems to be perfect for smaller people. I had to get rid of left foot rest so my leg could be there. Also, the electric seat is ridiculous; it's a power hog, and should be left alone after adjusted. If I could have ordered car with how I like, I'd trade drivers seat for good adjustable sport seat, chunk the heater on it, and while at it no sun roof which also ruins headroom. But best mod is for sure the BHR ignition kit to give a little better spark, and save the engine, cat, and melted carpet some can get. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...r-seat-205255/ |
I have a light weight 20# wheelchair that fits just right behind the drivers seat, so I guess my seat height is solved.
NObody gonna let me get on track so, I have enough head room for the street. They'd really freak when they see I have a MOMO brake stick for my left hand; I actually have much better brake control now on a 6 speed auto. I have instant jump on brake whereas before I'd have to hover on brake or gas while waiting for driver in front to decide where he's going. |
Well now for something completely different; there is no such thing. On an RX8 it's only all of the little things that add up to a little bit of meh. There is no single magic bullet. Even a magazine full of them doesn't add up to much. If forced to pick something then I'd say suspension balance/handling because without that an RX8 is dead meat in every other regard. Might as well put the magic bullet into the roof of your mouth ...

BHR ignition. Reliability and peace of mind.

You can get the AEM Ignition Kit from Wankelshop in Germany :) https://www.wankelshop.com/product_i...r19gc3ihoccgn1 Greetings Thomas |
Best mod for me I guess is my BHR coil, BHR midpipe(btw thanks Charles for fast and free shipping to Hawaii), and Cobb with custom tune.

45 to 50 psi in the tires feels like a hp increase....... many downfalls maybe 1 uprising

BHR ignition setup.

R Magic exhaust. Love that thing!

Gonna have to go with BHR ignition or the AEM cold air intake.

Single side exhaust, large muffler has been removed.
It is still comfortably loud but sounds profoundly immoral and wicked! :evil_laug |
Child seats. Because all real race cars them. The rest are poseurs.

Hey I have a Mazda RX8 4port and I have put all the bolt ons on it Which include 1)Aem Cold Air Intake 2)BORLA Exhaust 3)MEGAN Mid-pipe 4)RACING-BEAT Headers 5)BHR Ignition Kit 6)NGK Spark plugs 7)RALCO Light weight pulleys Now my next mods are walbro fuel pump, level10 torque converter, electric water pump, some good lightweight rims and MazdaEdit. The main problem that I’m facing right now is that i can’t contact level10. They won’t reply to my email and secondly I live in Pakistan.. so I don’t think so if I can call them.. plz someone help me here.. it’s my dream to make my car one of the fastest Rx8s.. this was my first car when I turned 18 and now it’s been 5 years together. |
Best mod ever for me was Mickey Thompson drag radials, because the car was super slow without them.
|
I'd probably have to go with coilovers... can't imaging being stock height anymore

For but dyno gains 4.77 final drive (S1) followed closely (and surprisingly) by the AP underdrive pulley.

I see the Exedy flywheel is no lighter than stock
|
Right now, I am rocking my AutoExe steering wheel. Recommended to everyone who wants to keep the functionality of the stock steering wheel but have better grip.

The Exedy flywheel may be as heavy as stock in terms of mass, but if it's moving the mass closer to the centre, that will still decrease its moment of inertia and give you the benefits of a 'lighter'(as in less moment of inertia) flywheel. The stock flywheel supposedly has a lot of its mass on the outside edge. For reference, a theoretical thin ring with mass m and radius r has a moment of inertia of mr^2, while a theoretical thin disk with the same mass and radius only has half of the moment of inertia of the thin ring. And for daily driving, too 'light' of a flywheel isn't really a good thing. It's really easy to stall and you can lose speed a bit too quickly when shifting and going up a hill. |
putting a stock exhaust and suspension back on it.

What would you say is your favorite one thing you've done? Maybe I can plan my next step :D because, bought the car like this https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...e38febae0.jpeg |
Best most recent “MOD”
The most recent “MODs” I’ve done to the 2007 NA S1 were the new Ryan Rotary coils. They are a plug and play with no adapters. Also,I put a new aluminum coil bracket on from RX8 Performance coupled with new RED 8.5 mm MSD wires.

IGN-1A coils with proper dwell adjustment is BY FAR the most noticeable performance augmentation for any 8 not already running them. (Always use NGK OEM plugs!)
|
OE coils are fine as long as they function properly. So no, you won’t gaining anything above that other than reliability. Even the Pro Formula Mazda race cars with Renesis engine still used the OE coils
|
@jcbrx8 God, that batt. relocation couldn't be more half assed... seriously, just run the + to the starter bolt, then a wire from the starter to the fusebox. Saves you 4ft o wire and a nasty duct tape look.
My single best mod is a screen in the ashtray. I put there data about coolant, oil, afr, timing, CEL's, and anything else I may want. |
Coils
|
There is no comparison of IGN-1A coils to OE. Yes, the newest version work just fine (took them what, 4 attempts to get it right?), if "just fine" is what you're after. Otherwise, if you aren't running them/haven't experienced the difference for yourself then maybe just hush up.
And just to be clear: if you're not gonna adjust the dwell, there is very little reason to install these coils (other than longevity). |
