ps. I'm from macau.... pls forgive for my poor english......
For people living in the US, there is no performance value or any other except for show appearance in buying JDM exhaust. It costs 2x as much, and hp gains are low with the 8. So most aftermarket mufflers are similar amounts of horsepower. Check the sticky thread by rotarygod...

depends on what you want. I personaly go with keeping parts on the car from major japanese part manufacturing companies. i.e. greddy, hks, etc. I have the greddy exhaust and it sounds nice and if really fills in the gaps in the rear of the car. plus its only about 7 for the kit instead of about 1200 for the hks kit.

Very true. Being that all things are equal and only a matter of taste... get whatever looks/sounds the best to you. JDM, etc. means nothing perfomance wise as all are putting out the same power within 2hp or so....and you're lucky to noitce 5hp in a 3,000lb car. So get whatever fits your pocketbook and your eyes and ears...

This thread will (already has) turned into an informal poll of which exhaust everyone has installed on their cars. I like my Racing beat just fine. I chose it based on not only the looks and sound, but the excellent customer service I have recieved from Racing Beat over 12 years of ordering from them. That goes a long way in my book.

I hate to say it, but try searching. There is acutally an explanation and a video of it somewhere. As I don't have an 8, I can't try and didn't memorize how to do it. I just know it has been discussed and repatedly said to also happen with stock exhaust also.

How do you like the greddy, RatedR_RX-8? Do you have the midpipe installed as well?

I think the B&B sounds the meanest. I have that in with the K&N intake and I LOVE it. I also like the Borla as well. Those would be my top 2. If you want to hear a sound clip of the B&B check out http://www.justindotcom.com/Shared%2...oatexhaust.mov or go to Vivid's site and check out their sound clip/. If you want a sound clip of the Borla with the KN intake in, check out http://www.justindotcom.com/Shared%2...s/KNintake.mov .

What model do all of you Borla exaust people have? Did you have to do any pipe work to make it fit tighter?

Im 17 and did the greddy install by myself in about an hour and a half and paid 599 after tax from intensemotors.com.

It's deep and clean sounding and gives a good custom look... as far as power, you'd have to read other forums, i'm not taking it to dyno for jsut exhaust.

i have bpics, but i need to get them up... later...

I just took off the stock pipe, and the borla fit right on. Took about 2 hours because the stock exhaust took forever to come off. The bolts must have been super heated and welded themselves shut. Once the stock came off, everything from the borla kit just screwed back on in place of the stock. No problems at all.

The car sounds great...

Not to get too off topic, but what did you use to polish your tips, guy321? I've been using Mothers Chrome Polish because that's all I have, but have been wondering if anything better, or more appropriate, is available.

I have a borla on my car. Sound is perfect. My experience with B & B is not good. Had one on a 97 M3. Shipped back to them twice for repair. Finally had to live with having a local weld shop fix it finally. Their product quality control stinks.
