mine have 30000 km and make horrible noise (it's dead)
I've got an ogura clutch + flywheel

why would u need such a thing ?
the throw out we use cost no more than 40 bucks. I think its a great deal even if it last only 10K miles.
if yours go out at 30Km(not 30000 KM) you might have a problem in your driving style.

The OEM bearing is made by NTK - one of the premier bearing manufacturers in the world.
More to the point - the TB is not even under load most of its life. However, you could stand on the clutch and hold the gas to the floor and you would wear out the pilot bearing before you wore out the TB.

I do often tracks
and hard clutch now ..
so I need a more strong clutch release bearing
I now the piece is only 40 $
but you should pay 4 to 6 hours
so arround 300-350 $ for the hand work
mine is dead :
I drive
I can ear the noise
I puch on the pedal clutch (only 1-2 cm) and no more noise ....
it's doing this when there is a problem with the release bearing
I find 1 for the rx7
it costs .... 350 $ !!! only the release bearing

Mine has just taken a carp . I have the ACT HD clutch in there and have a feeling the extra pressure required to push in the fingers has prematurely worn out the release bearing .
Have about 35000 miles on it with a number of track days .
The bearing is cheap enough but i've been quoted 5hrs and $400 to swap it out

So - we took the gearbox out yesterday and this was what became of my release bearing .
Couple of things i noticed :
The sliding surface of the bearing is made of plastic - and it melts when it gets really hot.
The new bearing was a very sloppy fit on the gearbox snout - perhaps up to 0.5mm clearance . To the point that I actually took it back thinking it was a dud part . We ended up useing it however - fingers are crossed .

Same thing happen to me, the OEM release bearing failed before my clutch give up and whatever that part called does made out of rubber. I end up replace with ACT Part #RB091, look very solid and build with stronger metal? Pretty tough - glad I had some help doing it . Had the most trouble getting the freaking clutch slave cyl back on grrrrr .
Full day at the track today with no problems so we must have done something right .

Best Release Bearing for RX8
Hey Charles,
Any suggestion on which release bearing is the best until a VKC ( SKF ) is available... I will hate to bother my uncle again to replace another OEM bearing if I can manage to invest smarter and bother less, allthough I must admit I as many other RX8 owners have a heavy feet when it comes to the pedal ..jeje...

This is why I am the driveline/parts guy and my colleague here is the tuning guy........
The factory NTK/Koyo bearing is **** and it has a plastic inner sleeve. I have been searching for better release bearings and discovered that the ACT RB 100 bearing is a re-packaged Koyo. The RB 091 may be a different story. The one bearing I DO like is the VKC 3600, as it is all-metal and heavy duty, but they are hard as hell to find. I continue searching but to no avail.

Invest Smarter and never asume what OEM dealers suggest
If you go to Rockauto.com you will find them under $30 or $40 shipped. Buying the release bearing is not the problem, the problem is having your mecanic rip your pocket for $300 - $500 to install the dam bearing, it will be wiser to invest smarter for a longer lasting part than a temporary OEM part.
We all know that the OEM clutch sucks, hell after me paying almost $600 to the dealer twice in less than 2 years, I decided to go ACT Heavy, I can admit it's been over a year and the only problem I'm having is the dam release bearing.
I still have the same Heacy ACT clutch, pressure, prolite flywheel and nothing wrong to it, just the dam shitty bearing I keep buying every 5 or 7 months.
The luck I have each time I need to replace the release bearing is that my uncle is a mecanic and the labor only costs me a 24 pack of beers and a carton of Newport's.
