I would like to get a listing of Rotary Aftermarket Parts suppliers that will be supporting the 8.

Anyone know about the following:

I would love an intake, exhaust, headers, and ecu upgrade

Probably most vendors that currently products for RX-7s will continue to support the RENESIS.

Also, I wish they'd make some decent aftermarket exhaust system available as a factory option. Something tasteful and subtle, I'm not talking about a big fart can. Not that that would really give a whole lot of power gain, but I want to actually hear the engine when I drive, and I'm sure the engine will be way quiet stock.

Not to mention something that is lighter than stock and won't rust to pieces.

I will be supporting the RX8 as a supplier of aftermarket parts.
I run the rx7club along with this site and rx7store.net.
Expect to see the rx8store in the near future.

I would assume that most of the large suppliers such as Greddy, HKS, Apexi to be producing parts for the car. Lets hope

Who do you think will make the BEST products? Logic dictates it will be Mazdaspeed for the basic fact of funds and the little fact that thier engineers designed and built the vehicle. But that same logic dictates that the best minds as well as the most driven dont always work for the mother company and also that the mother company wont put as much R&D into aftermarket as they did for the production of the vehicle.

i don't know if Mazdaspeed would make the highest performance products for the car, but they would proabbly come with a factory warranty

Racing Beat is world renowned for their Mazda tuning (and landspeed record setting... )
they're also known for their sky-high prices... :D

"Probably"??? The only time I've heard of a warranty coming with an aftermarket performance part is certain TRD parts, and that was only when you paid a certified dealership to install it.

turbo

i have heard rumors that the 8 will not be supporting a turbo and i was wondering how reliable an aftermarket kit will be on the 8, especially since the car will have no previous reference to a turbo charger

Th 8 will probably have little problem with the Turbo. Speaking of this, does anyone know off-hand the Compression Ratio on the RENESIS? If they raised it up a lot over the RX-7, it will limit the effectiveness of a Turbo. The only downside to it not originally coming with one, is kits will be much more expensive. You start adding up the costs of an entire Turbo system, and you're talking about a pretty penny. Figure in an Exhause Header, the actual Turbo, all new intake parts, intercooler parts, etc. Then add the fact that the parts will be selling in small quantities for quite a while, and you end up with a LOT of money.

The compression ratio is 10:1 on all models even the lowpower automatic version.

List of dealers for discounted accessories

I thought it would be a good idea if there was a list started for the names of the dealers that are offering a discount on the accessories for the RX-8. The owners then can pick which ones are close to their own area.

does anyone know how to get a hold of some of the accessories availalbe in Japan that don't seem to be available in the states?

Particularly I want the red/black leather shifter **** that has the light-up (LED Back-lit) position numbers on it?

And the illuminated start button kit.

It'd be sweet to have an LED-lit **** that says "RX-8" on it...

I second the notion on the red/black shifter ****. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat. Anyone have an idea where to get one?

On another thread someone posted about JAPANPARTS.COM. And yes they have every mazdaspeed accessory you could want. They are asking about $222.00 US dollars fort he leather shifter ****. They charge a 5% surcharge to credit card orders and I'm not sure about their shipping charge. However, $222 seems reasonable. Hope that helps and thanks for whoever posted about japanparts.com

It's been over a week and Japanparts.com has not got me a quote yet. I had to fax a part list cause the order pages seems to be down. Anyone with any success?

I'm glad someone finds that price reasonable. For $222, I'd want the leather to come from unicorn ********!
