Who cares Helix exhaust name?

Apparently while taking over ownership of Rotary Extreme a technicality came up. Rotary Extreme designed the Helix exhaust along with Gruppe-S and had Helix of Japan manufacture the exhaust. Since Rotary Extreme was closed down for a year, it no longer had the rights to the name of the exhaust. After looking at everything I will be getting with the site, it appears I am not getting the rights to the name Helix because some other company bought the brand name Helix. However it is just the name and not the design. Rotary Extreme came up with the design. I have talked to the other company and I have come to the conclusion that I do not want to do a partnership because they want most of the profit if the exhaust is put back into production. It will be Rotary Extreme design, (which they might modify themselves), but it will carry the Helix name. So after I said I'm bringing back the Helix exhaust I have to eat my words, well half of them. Because of the technicality of losing the contract when Rotary Extreme shut down a year ago, I do not have the rights to use the Helix name legally. However I do have the right to make the same design and just call it Rotary Extreme's exhaust. It does kind of bum me out, but at least I know the true origin and who really designed it.

So I want to ask everyone who is crazy for this exhaust, do you care for the helix name, or will you guys be happy with the design coming back.

Also, everything I have said about the origin of the exhaust is all I am allowed to say. I must respect the original owners and designers of the businesses involved.

i dont really care about the name but a question about the design. if you were to go back and start producing these again would you be able to move the mufflers up to give more clearance? after looking at how the original helix sits i figured i would be driving and scraping the exhaust on the ground

just make sure the piping goes through the proper location of the car, instead of taking the half assed route down under the diff. You can call it the SuperHelix instead.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA

I love you guys, strictly platonic that is, but yeah.

This exhaust will be made completely in the USA to support our economy, I will make the first prototype and get you the pics and dyno results.

There will be an option to select piping diameter of the main pipe from the cat to the split.

I will make the config that makes the best power for a completely stock car and the diameter will be offered in larger increments from that.

Just remember, this is more of a designer exhaust so the mufflers are ment to be seen, but they will not scrape ... they better not or Im going to have alot of pissed off people telling me "I told you so!!!!!!!!"

Ben

also rotary extreme will be engraved on it... somewhere.. havent decided where yet.

swoope, your right on, but I'm offering different sizes between the cat and the y so that the customers can choose what will be best for them, from the y on the overall diameter will be larger then the 3inch main pipe so the y back does not matter even if I use a 2 inch or a 2 and 1/4 because that will make the y back 4 to 4.5 diameter.

I'm sure for the turbo guys they'll want a 3, but I'm going to dyno what works best for n/a and offer that. The larger diameter will just have an additional fee to cover "only" the additional price over the smaller diameter.

P.S. swoope, you should go on a posting frenzy and get that 10k post count, I wonder if it will reset? LOL

With the way the mufflers hung it seemed to place more stress on the hanger weld points than normal. One of the hangers kept cracking off leaving a hole in the muffler. Also I hope the exhaust tips are made long enough to fully extend out past the plastic exhaust shrouds. Mine have melted through and I had some longer 2.5 inch tips placed on for the time being, that unfortunately changed the sound considerably due to the small diameter. That was done at a muffler shop in the middle of some cornfields out in Illinois; 2.5 was all they had.

Scrapes happen not on speed bumps, but on a few poorly designed pavement transitions, when instead of a gradual slope there is a sharp dropoff of 6 or 8 inches. I've encountered one of those in 10,000 miles of driving and living from west to east to west coast. The sideskirts are actually more prone to scraping since these poor transitions happen while turning out of a parking lot, usually.

If you could make it at least original quality 304 stainless with mandrel bends I could use a new one. It would save me the trouble.

If you can make it look and sound like the Helix without it being too low, that would be awesome. I would definately buy. Just have it say Helix and I would be happy. Is it possible to make the tips chrome and then have a sort of titanium look at the end. That burnt blue/ purple looks amazing. Make the tips 3 inch so they aren't too close to the shrouds, but they still look big.

the name helix is copyrighted. he cant use it. besides, what is the point of a name? are you so caught up in labels? do you wear hollister or a&f just for the label?

thats sad. you should buy items you like, regardless of who made them.
