Why HKS?

Why is HKS so expensive and I hear so little about people putting them on the 8's? Do they even sell products? Why a G for an exhaust? I heard that intake they are supposed to come out with is going to be expensive also. Don't get me wrong the products look nice. Is that the answer they, look nice and it is a well known company.

Just wondering?

I think with HKS you pay more for the name than anything else.

I love mine! Perfect fit on install...awesome sound...getting better with age. Cost really wasn't the issue with me.

Great products all around.

I've purchased HKS products for my previous cars in the past.

I would have gone with the HKS exhaust except I wanted to keep my 8 all Mazdaspeed (minus the K&N intake).

Prices tend to a bit higher than others but the quality is top notch.

HKS products are usually the nicest on the market but you pay for it. I have sold a bunch of their exhausts and everyone has liked them, no complaints.

I like the HKS exhaust cause it looks cool, but I just think I have a better chance w/ Greddy. I just think with the price of HKS exhaust, I can buy Greddy exhaust and a intake. Greddy's name is as good as HKS also. Maybe better.

I definitely would buy Greddy over HKS. They're both well known names, but I believe Greddy quality is a bit better...However, I did see the HKS racing suction prototype intake and it does look like a very good product.

HKS has the best engineers. HKS also has a race track around their main facility. HKS has the largest aftermarket manufacturing and R&D in Japan. HKS bedbuddies with Garrett/Honeywell Japan. HKS has really good crudentials.

I saw that intake too. It looks good. Again the price is a little steep. I am not sure I can pass the intake up though. If AEM does not come out w/ theirs soon. I might have to go RE or HKS w/ my intakes.

This is just a curiosity question and nothing personal. Why is your first choice AEM? Then you state that if their's isn't out soon you may have to go with the HKS or Greddy systems. It just really confuses me why people think this way. What makes anyone think that one cone filter system is better than the other? People actually believe that HKS is better than K&N, or that AEM is going to be better than Rotary Extreme? I'm confused. The only system I have seen as of yet that would probably have some effect on performance is the Greddy system. Not because of the cone filter but because of the length of the design. Marketing apparetly works well for the other companies if they have a following based on name. Personally I would use what works best regardless of who's name is on it. If every system is a similar design using the same design principle, then they are all going to have similar performance characteristics. Again this isn't anything personal or an attack against you. Use what you want to, it's your car and if it makes you happy that is all that matters. Loyalty to a name brand when they are all just generic copycats of each other just confuses me.

I am just guessing that AEM would be the best cause they specialize in filters. Then again so does K&N. I do get what your saying though rotory god. I did not know Greddy was making one. I might wait for Greddy cause I got the exhaust on the way. Since they are making a turbo/ it should fit my exhaust and the intake. Now , thats a ligit reason to wait for an exhaust.
