Torque measured was 200Nm, normally it's 222Nm. But the most los in hp is after 5000rpm,
we had a closer look while dynoing and looked it up on the graph.
In real life, it's even slower than a vw golf tdi and those only have 150hp or a bmw 325i witch also has 192hp, even my aunt's mercedes e220diesel(160hp) is faster.

in real life, this car has no low end torque. in real life, you won't be doing 8000 rpm drops on every light. in real life, this car doesn't make the advertised numbers. in real life, my dad's honda pilot will beat your car off the line. in real life, this has been discussed countless times.

100kW = 136 hp. I don't remember seeing such a low number.
136 hp at the wheels of a 192 hp car with a manual gearbox is indeed somewhat low.

Not yet. But I think that mazda Belgium have done one on their car but I don't know the result. They told me however that there's a problem with the oil delivery to the engine and that it's overheating. I have seen this on a rx8 that had to replace his engine because the oilpump had failed. If they find a solution I will let everybody on this forum know how they fixed my car, maybe then you could have the same horsepower as advertised.
Ps, I don't recall anybody from mazda japan saying that the low horsepower is normal.

Heres my 2 cents. i heard alot of talk about our cars not giving correct reading on the dyno cause of the ECU we have. When went to the dyno they told me it might not make more then 90hp cause of the ABS. but i ended up with two 171hp runs and 168hp run. and I ran a 1/4 at 15.0 with no traction. I had alot of wheel hop out the hole. my car has a SR high flow cat, SR light weight pulleys, K n N drop in, and a single HKS high power. everything else stock.

But testing rear-wheel horsepower (rwhp -- obviously, front drivers would be measuring fwhp) makes it difficult to convert from what the dyno says to what the manufacturer says. The manufacturer, remember, measures horsepower at the flywheel. All that equipment between the engine and the wheels -- the transmission, driveshaft, differential, and axles -- introduce friction and inertial losses summarized as "powertrain loss" or "parasitic losses". The efficiency of the driveline can greatly affect the amount of the powertrain loss: Ford's AOD transmission, for example, is notoriously inefficient. As a very general rule, rear-wheel horsepower on a manual-transmission car is about 15% less than SAE net, and rear-wheel horsepower on an automatic-transmission car is about 20% less than SAE net.

It still seems that there is a problem if the whp of the manual transmission 8 isn't 200+ hp.

I'm none too happy with 180hp, if that's what it is, because that's about a 22.5% parasitic loss, when it should be closer to 15%.

My car made 197rwhp w/ RB Intake and Exhaust and R Flash - that shows about 17% drivetrain loss...from 238 I can accept that i suppose. I still suspect my engine wouldn't be capable of producing more than 215-220hp at the crank...I also know the car feels MUCH faster now than when stock...so...20K miles from now I might HAVE that 230+ crank HP.

As-is, I don't give a rat's behind because my car can be Scary-fast under the right conditions. :D

Well, next week I will know if it's possible to get the same number of horsepower as advertised. Then mazda Belgium will call me and tell the results they got from the univercity of Luik (liege). If they have a solution I well let you know.

Are you sure they were not referring to the Traction Control Systems (DSC/TCS)?

I have seen and spoke to several mazda mechanics and the problem is the damn computers and emissions controls on the car.since the cars burn oil they cannot be set to run like they can in other countries. herce the low rwhp numbers. they are tring to correct this and are changing hp ratings to better bring this gap closer the first group of 8's where gettion 170 -180 rwhp now they changed programing and are supposed to be 180 to 200 rwhp. Also iv heard that on a dyno you have to hold dsc button in till lite comes on should have 2 lites on to totaly disable traction control and get a true dyno reading hope this helps a bit good luck
