That doesn't necessarily mean they need cooling. I'm not aware of any of the other racers having rear brake issues. You might consider an aluminum hat/improved rotor disc setup instead like Racing Brake etc.
Will cut 5 lbs of rotating mass too Two-piece rotor (Open Slot) - RX8 REAR 04-11 |

The rotor material is way superior to OE, and way more durable with aggressive track pads ...

I just updated my brake ducts on the dedicated track car. (SCCA T4 class) I had ducts running from the old fog lights but with the new oil coolers I needed more space. I did something similar to this thread. I have the mx5 ducts on the rotor/hub to carry the air into the hub itself. a 2.5" hose fits nicely so I found some parts at home depot to add some 2.5" ducts to the plastic that scoops air to the radiator.
I found shop vacuum hoses are 2.5" and the little round end worked well. ($9 each) Pulled the bristles off and cut it back to make a snorkel. I drilled a 2.5" hole in the side of the plastic to insert the shop vac end in. Used a couple rivets and epoxy to hole it in place. Then to seal off that area I cut a piece of thin aluminum ($7 for 12"x12" enough for both sides) and riveted it to the plastic so separate the brake duct area from the radiator area. |

OD4 where in VA are you?
Need to do this myself as well. I was thinking about skipping the aluminum bracket you put there to split the airflow - wonder if that will impact the cooling in the heat of the summer on the track? which hose did you use? |

Not sure on the brand of hose it was left over for something else. It was 2.5" if I remember. OG racing sells some good stuff. |
