Hopefully I will get the clutch kit so I can install it this weekend. I just picked up a slide hammer and pivot bearing tool today, as well as a long 17mm socket and a 10" extension bar.
Do I need the over-sized socked to remove the pilot bearing?
Can I just leave the flywheel on the car and still change the pilot bearing?
I will have a quick search but does someone have the link to the Mazda guide for a clutch removal so I know all the torque settings, etc?
I found this one from Auto Zone http://www.autozone.com/autozone/rep...96b43f8037f141 its basic and no torque settings

Yes you can pull out the pilot bearing but its always reccomend to get your flywheel turned, but if it looks good that's up to you. Just google search the torque settings

I have a copy of the Mazda Manual for removing the transmission now so have all the torque settings.
Thanks for you help. The clutch has not arrived yet so I may have to wait until I get it fitted.:-(

Thanks again for the video. My Exedy Stage 1 Clutch is in and working. I didn't make a video because I was to covered in grease and oil.

Your welcomed, and glad it helped out. At least you got the hands on experience with it which is always better then video or pictures imo.

In ZumnRX8's photo, I see what appears to be a gasket for the transmission front cover. I didn't see that in any diagrams in the FSM. Does this need to be replaced when doing the front seal and are there any other seals or gaskets that should be replaced when doing the clutch (besides the rear tranny seal)?

You also have the rear main on the engine, and I replaced mine. Some people replace the seals, others don't touch them until they have a problem so it's usually up to the person doing the work to decide if they need replaced or just replacing for piece of mind. I don't know if it matters, but if you still have a warranty, and the engine needs replaced, and you replace that seal they might hassle you that you caused it, or if it was installed wrong and you lose all your oil they won't cover it. I don't know if they would do that so just trying to give a heads up that way no one has to run into it.
