DIY: Defi controller installed in ashtray.
I installed a Defi link display controller and VSD concept controller in an ashtray.
I changed the surface rough finish of a cover of an ashtray for the painting in piano black in D.I.Y.

Hey since we have CAN diagnosting system. I think we cannot get a line from the ECU that single out the tachno speed whatever and it has to get it from the CAN slot - under your steering wheel.

Here - plug it in and hook up the wire.

Is there a D.I.Y. for removal of the ashtray/lighter compartment as shown in the 2nd picture? I am trying to remove it, and cut a hole in the piece on bottom left of the picture so I can put my Ipod in there.

Nope

to remove the ashtray:
-unscrew and remove the shift ****, set aside
-reach to the center console panel (where the e-brake is) and reach under the handle and tug up on the panel. One side will pop up, then pull up again and remove and panel. If you have heated seats or a nav system unplug the connectors.
-There are two Phillips head screws holding in the ashtray. Unscrew them and then simply pull the ashtray assembly towards you. It will pop out just like the center console panel did. Unplug the connectors and the ashtray is free.
Pretty easy
