Wow!!! Nice! looks really good guys! I'm actually thinking of trying it hahaha...

Can we get some Hi Res pics of some interiors and close up shots? I want to make sure I like the dry carbon look...or is there a spray that can make it a wet carbon look?

Awesome DIY!

I wouldn't recommend trying to make it a wet carbon look with this material. If you read the link I posted on the first post of this DIY, the author I believe through his thread mentions someone trying this when the material is not made for it and it didn't come out so well. For wet CF you should get the real CF and apply it like you would to create a part out of it, meaning using resin and the whole shalaam. The pro to using dry CF is it's simple, straight forward, does the job very well with the Neffy wrap and only requires adhesive and patience to get the look.

It's not actual 100% carbon fiber. It's a pattern wrap and not the real deal. If I was going to do the real deal then why wrap the part in it? At that point I would make the entire part out of it.

The outer pattern has great protection wear protection it and feels like CF but this is a dry wrap, so don't think you're getting the real fiber. I'll post what one forum mentioned about this and I think he said it well:

The cheapest of the cheap: "carbon fiber" vinyl with backing.
Still cheap but not as much: fabric woven "carbon fiber" pattern (this is what this wrap is)
Getting up there: the fabric with resin applied so it looks shiny
Pricey: Fiberglass that looks like carbon fiber (you would want to make a part out of this, not wrap
Absurd: Real carbon fiber (you would want to make a part out of this, not wrap)

I don't chose to wrap up everything in my car with it just because I don't want to feel it's a ricey approach like adding LED lights all over the place like outside the car, and so forth. I did it for one purpose alone, to provide a better wear surface so the applied areas would not get dings/scuffs like before and keep a certain look that pulls it off.

It's a good thing the 3M adhesive and fabric is so forgiving, I would've definitely screwed this up big time if I couldn't smooth things out and have a little time to work with it. Also - extra fabric to wrap around the edges is good, too much is not! Here's some crappy cell pics. I'll get some better ones tomorrow with my camera.
Frosty that stuff looks sick, good job.

I'm glad you wound up liking the wrap/adhesive combo as much as I did.

Bump! Vlaze, how's it holding up being 2 months since install? Any scuffs/problems?

Looks great by the way!

Has anyone done anything with the silver color material?? I'm thinking covering the silver parts of the interior and a few other pieces in the silver. I'm thinking either that or some white vinyl to match the WWP on the outside.

This would be much more durable than the paint which is easily scratched. I like the black CF look, but was wondering if anyone has done anything with their silver material. I've been considering just doing away with the silver parts and doing pieces in WWP to match the exterior, but in my experience doing interior parts in white is a pain to keep clean.

Whoops, missed this. So far so good. No scuffs or anything. It feels just like clothe so it's soft and resistant to the usual dings, scuffs etc and with excess heat we've had here on and off along with humidity I haven't seen a sign of wear or it loosening any. Loving it so far.

If you look at the Neffy site I linked, they offer silver cf wrap, take a look into it.

LARx8 - I wasn't aware you meant the silver CF, I thought you meant just plain silver paint.

Vlaze - Good to hear, I'm considering doing a few parts on my 8 as well. Do you think with the right adhesive (high heat) this would work in the engine bay? You said it feels like cloth, but would it melt or burn possibly in such high heat conditions? I mean I know carbon fiber itself isn't much affected by heat (as I see it on some exhaust pieces) but this is wrap so is it different? I'll try searching around on google too.
Thanks, Ryan

Awesome DIY btw

Thanks again and well I'm not sure how it would hold up as the engine bay sees like twice as much if not more heat contrast you get in the cockpit. You could read up on 3m adhesive specs but I'm not so certain they would hang on well before the adhesive softened up and things started to shift.

Keep in mind as mentioned earlier, this is not CF itself, this is a vinyl wrap with CF weave pattern on the outside. Seeing it's vinyl, I'd be cautious about getting it anywhere remotely close to where it can burn up. It's mentioned to be spillproof/waterproof. When you get the wrap, it feels like clothe. After you apply it obviously to a tight fit you can feel a nice smooth clothe feel over it.

That's what I meant, doing some parts in the silver material. If I start changing things it will be a bunch of parts getting color matched. This might even work on something like the door panels. I'm thinking of all the parts seen in this thread, maybe a few others. I'm really wanting to break out the paint and go to town matching the wwp, but I've got the feeling it might be a pain to match and keep looking good. I would like to get rid of all the grey on the headliner etc and do some two tone on the interior. I've seen some references to some vinyl wrap material that is supposed to have a pearl look but I need to see some pics or get a sample of the material before I commit to that.

Well, not to jack the thread, but I found something very interesting. Actual paint applied to vinyl to use as wrap. The white pearl looks like it might just work for getting the ease of vinyl wrapping with the color matching I'm wanting. A little pricey, but not too bad for a starter kit. http://www.flxpaint.com/welcome.htm

Not a huge fan of the carbon fiber look personally, but you did a fantastic job installing. A+

Whoooooaaaaaa... You did like.. the opposite of what OP did.

I like it.

But my silver pieces are all banged up. the original owner (oo?) beat the shiz out of these panels with her seat belt is what the dealership told me.

Any update on the durability Vlaze??

I know it's not fall yet, but I'm dying to fix up my interior.

Thanks.

So far so good. With the humidity being worst than dry heat in terms of adhesive sticking which we get a lot of up the NE, the CF has held up with no shifting or scuffs yet and looks like the first day I installed it.

I like what the person a few posts above did as we have someone that already has done the entire console and the radio area up to the top plastic piece in the middle of the dash in CF but, my reason was not solely for aesthetics and I don't want to do the entire thing in the wrap. I did this because of the poor material selection/finish they used for the side plates which get dinged/scuffed up easily. The top of the console doesn't so I like to leave it alone to mix it up. I'm going to result in doing the door control trim as well as another person did here since my knee rests against it sometimes on the highway and I noticed with the OEM gloss black finish it's getting scuffed up annoyingly as well.

I love the look of the dry carbon but I'm wondering if you could do all of the interior pieces that are covered with the 25 piece wet carbon dash kit. I don't think mixing and matching would look good and some of pieces like the head unit and circle pieces around the vents might not come out right. It seems like you would have to cut those to shape and hope for the best.

theres two screws underneath the console. once you find those and take them out you just pull the gauge cluster towards you really hard. the center console was hard you gotta remove the radio then the ac vents and then you can get to the top part

Thanks the plan is to wrap the center and radio with the classic dry carbon wrap like you did and then the sides on the center with the silver carbon fiber. I'm hoping that I can tape the buttons on the radio and then wrap it and then cut those parts out. We'll see how it goes
